The man rejected God’s calling for him to pursue his aspirations until he lost everything, and God stepped in to rescue him.

Painful Childhood

Growing up with a drug-addicted parent destructively affected Andrew Carter’s life. As a young boy, he had to live in and out of foster care and with his relatives. At one point, he lived with his uncle, an ex-convict who taught him survival tactics. Hence, he believed that the tougher he became, the more respect and recognition he would receive.

Later, Andrew’s life revolved around drugs and sex as a teenager. But when he heard the Gospel from his girlfriend’s brother at 17, his life changed. He accepted Jesus into his heart and started attending church. His hope grew that he would finally find a place where he belonged. However, that never happened because he didn’t feel accepted by the church.

Rejecting God’s Calling

So, Andrew withdrew and returned to his old lifestyle. Years later, he got married and started a family. However, his anger issues resurfaced, and he was locked up in jail again for “assault and battery.” That’s when he met a Christian inmate who became his friend, and as a result, his relationship with God grew.

Upon leaving jail, Andrew brought his entire family to church. Moreover, he started dreaming big and sought financial security as a goal. Later, he met a preacher who prophesied that he would become a pastor.

Andrew felt disappointed by the word because he wanted to receive a message about prosperity and finances. However, that never came.

“The picture of ministry to me wasn’t a picture of success,” he recalled.

Then, Andrew rejected the calling and left the church. He chose to pursue his life aspirations and goals. Things went well at first, but soon spiraled out of control. He eventually lost his family, his business, and his marriage.

Feeling lost despite moving forward, Andrew found himself back in God’s arms. Watch what happened in the video below.

Ultimate Calling

As Christians, we often question the Lord’s calling and say things like, “You told me to do this, you called me to this, where were you?” But we don’t realize that our original and true calling is Jesus Christ. Our ultimate calling is not our leadership nor our platform, but our highest calling is to seek first the Kingdom of God.

“People like that walk away from the Gospel because they didn’t know Jesus. They wanted to do something great for Him and maybe it started in an innocent way. They did what they knew but they never knew better because they didn’t go here [pointing upwards]. They waited for the applause, the reception, they waited to look at a room to find out if they were doing the thing.”

When we seek God first and His Kingdom that overflows into our leadership. We are called to steward the people whom God places in our lives as the love of God that overflows from within us.

“That’s why we got stadiums filling where we have lots of energy but not high praise. And there’s not even any discernment anymore about the difference between the two. There’s a big difference between oil and adrenaline. But if you don’t know the difference, you don’t know the difference.”

God’s Word For Today: Born For Such a Time

In the tapestry of human history, there are moments when individuals rise to the forefront, destined to play a crucial role in shaping the course of events. The story of Esther, a young Jewish woman thrust into a position of influence and responsibility, teaches a profound truth: you were born for such a time as this.

What Does the Bible Say?

In Esther 4:14, Mordecai challenges Esther with these powerful words: “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Esther’s story serves as a powerful reminder that God’s divine hand orchestrates your life and places you in specific circumstances, equipped and empowered to fulfill your purpose.

Esther’s journey was not accidental; it was divinely orchestrated. Likewise, you were intricately woven into God’s plan. In Psalm 139:16, the psalmist declares, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

Esther’s initial response to Mordecai’s call was fear and hesitation. But through prayer, fasting, and the support of her community, she found the courage to embrace her destiny. Joshua 1:9 encourages us, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” When you surrender your fears to God and trust in His guidance, you can step into the fullness of your calling.

Throughout Esther’s story, we witness the unseen hand of God orchestrating events and bringing deliverance to His people. Even in times of uncertainty, you can trust that God’s sovereign plan is at work, and He will guide you on the path of purpose.

Friend, as you contemplate your unique journey, remember that you were born for such a time as this. Embrace the Esther perspective and allow God to unveil the purpose He has designed specifically for you. Be courageous, trust in His timing, and impact the world around you. You are here, at this moment, for a divine purpose.

God’s Word For The Day: Go Where I Have Called You

“During those many days the king of Egypt died, and the people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. ²⁴And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. ²⁵God saw the people of Israel—and God knew.” (Exodus 2:23-25)

“Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” ¹¹But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” ¹²He said, “But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”” (Exodus 3:10-12)

Today’s Message

Do you struggle with what you know God has called you to do with your life? Maybe you relate to Moses, who couldn’t comprehend why God wanted to use him. Like Moses, God wants to inhabit the lives of imperfect believers like you and I. He does not need you to be the best writer, speaker, or performer. He does not need you to be the best at your job. God’s purposes for the earth reach far beyond our own lives. He desires that you take the hand He’s extended out to you, saying “yes” to the journey ahead. Consider today’s verses above. The people of Israel were groaning in their bondage. And God, in His goodness, did not forget the covenant He made with Abraham. Moses was the answer to a portion of the promise. God needed Him! He chose Him to complete the task of freeing the people of Egypt. You too, are needed in this generation. I want to encourage you: go where He is calling! You will not be alone, He will be with you. There is purpose in your destination.

Actor Jonathan Roumie says that playing the role of Jesus Christ in the hit series “The Chosen” is his calling and his ministry.

In a recent interview following the debut of “The Chosen” season three, Jonathan shared what it feels like to play such an important role. For the actor, playing the role of Jesus Christ in his ministry and his calling.

“I think getting to play Jesus, for me, I realize it’s like ministry. It’s been my calling,” he said.

The 48-year-old actor also shared that seeing how people’s lives are being transformed by the show makes all their work worth it.

“The reactions to the show, and now to the cinematic version of the show, depiction of the show. People have just been transformed by it and for me, it’s worth everything.”

In a previous interview, Jonathan also revealed how the series changed his life. A few years ago, he was in a difficult season and was planning to quit acting. However, when he decided to fully surrender his entire life to God, God called him into this whole new journey.

Working on the film also made him more dependent to God and more devoted to Him.

“It’s forced me to depend even more than I thought I was depending on God already for everything in my life,” he said. “There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t start with prayer and give gratitude for where God’s brought me through this journey.”

Jonathan also hopes that the viewers would be more convicted to study the Word of God and depend on Him more.

“I hope that they can feel inspired to go read Scriptures and be inspired by the Word. And maybe find the Church and get more involved in making God a greater part of their lives because your life only gets better.”

Having A Clear Vision With God Will Fill Your Life With Peace

Who have you been called to be?

I still remember the first time a wise mother figure in my life asked me this. At the time, I was struggling with fear. The fear of letting people I loved down, managing other’s expectations of me, and the fear of man’s opinion of me.

With a gentle voice, she simply asked me: “Lauren, who has Father called you to be?” This question set my mind at ease and helped me determine a clear vision with God. One that wasn’t based on other people but only His word and my confidence in trusting Him. When we know who God calls us to be, we understand what we are responsible for. That responsibility grounds us.

As Jesus tells us in Matthew: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:30

A clear vision with God leads us to peace

Life with Jesus is light. The heaviness of the world isn’t the burden you were created to carry. We all come into contact with fear and confusion. When we remain in the vision God provides, we stay in alignment with His peace. Having a clear vision with God provides lasting confidence in the unseen. From this place, we no longer need to worry about what other’s might think. Because we possess the confidence of who God has called us to be, we have clarity and peace.

A prayer for you: Holy Spirit, would you remind this daughter or son of their heavenly identity and destiny? I pray that their spirit comes alive in your reality and future for them. Let them lead those around them in freedom!

Knowing Your Season

What is your season? You know, we all go through different seasons. If you think about 12 months in a year, we have Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Well, you’re in a season right now as well, and it may not be the same as your friend, and it may not be the same as your neighbor. I would encourage you to ask God what season you’re in.

Maybe He’s having you plant some seeds right now. Just imagine your life and all the things that you’re doing, how you steward things in your life. Maybe you’re in a season where God’s calling you to do something really big, or He’s calling you into a new career, or He’s calling you into ministry. Maybe He’s calling you to read books and to learn how to write a book. Ask Him what season you’re in, because seasons shift, and we need to know where we’re going with Him.

We have so many gifts. God has given you gifts. There’s going to be times when you need to learn under a leader, and then you become a leader. Perhaps you’re having children, and you’re in a season where you feel a little bit hidden. What is your season?

I believe that God has revelation for you in every season. I believe that God has blessing for you in every season. We can learn wherever we’re planted, and we all grow at a different pace. You know, I think about babies. They develop and they learn at a different pace, but they don’t stay babies forever. Eventually they start walking and talking, and then before you know it, they’re teenagers. Well, that’s like our spiritual life. We’re constantly growing, or we should be constantly growing. And you know, in your season, I want you to know that you have all you need in Christ. If you need to remind yourself of that, read Ephesians chapter one, and if you need wisdom and revelation for the season that you’re in, listen to this in Ephesians 1:17, Paul is praying that “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.” And then verse 18, “Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.”

You have an abundance of riches in Jesus, and He wants to grow you. He wants to speak to you. He wants you to become the fullness of what He sees you as. So whatever season you’re in, ask the Holy Spirit, “Help me to grow in this season.”

I want to pray for you. God, I thank you that you take us through changes. You take us through seasons, and God, I just thank you that you are so wonderful in how you teach us. And so I pray for everyone right now, no matter what season they’re in, that the seeds that they’re sowing, God, I speak life to those seeds right now in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

All Things Are Possible Through Jesus Christ

All things are possible through Jesus Christ when we are in the right place where God wants us to be.

“When we’re in the position and we’re in the place where God wants us to be, we’ll begin to experience His favor on our life. We’ll receive Him pouring out His goodness on our life,” she said.

Encounter

Our encounter with the Lord changes our lives. The old has gone and the new life we have in Jesus Christ has come! We’ll never be the same again when we encounter the love of God.

“When we have an encounter with the Word, and we have an encounter with Jesus, and we get a revelation, I’m telling you, we will never be the same again.”

When you are being called for His missions, God will provide you everything you need. He will provide you protection, anointing, and even provision. All you have to do is respond to the calling of God.

“There’s sustenance, there’s a keeping, there’s a provision when we are where God wants us to be. And we’re at that place where He is able to empower us.”

All things are possible

Let us stop putting limits on ourselves when God has made everything possible for us through Jesus Christ.

“We have to recognize that we have to open ourselves up to God’s possibilities. We have to limit the negativity, we have to limit the fear in our life, we have to squash all those things that would choke out our confidence in hearing from God.”

All things are possible for us through Jesus Christ when we just respond to His calling.

“There are things that God wants to do and all things are possible through Jesus Christ.”

In Times Of Discouragement, Remember Who Called You

In times of discouragement, remember who called you into this place and position. Remember that God called you and not men.

Havilah Cunnington

Havilah Cunnington shared her testimony of how she overcame the discouraging word of a man. She was just 17 when she and her sister started their ministry. They went to places to share with people the Word of the Lord.

A month after their first speaking engagement, they were invited to a church in Arizona. As they were preaching, praying, and prophesying, the pastor cut them off and led the church in a different direction. Havilah later asked the pastor how he thought the service went – and that’s when she heard a very discouraging word.

“I don’t believe in anything you did tonight,” the pastor told her. “I don’t believe in the message you brought, I don’t even believe in women doing what you did. If I have known what you would bring, I would have probably never had you.”

Who Called You?

With tears, they came running to their parents and told them about what happened. Then her father reminded her that it was God who called her into ministry and not men.

“Well, I guess you get to decide if a man called you or God called you,” Havilah’s father said to her.

The enemy always wants to instill fear in us to cripple us from doing the works of the Kingdom. But we have to overcome the words of the enemy by holding on to the promises of God.

“The battles of the enemy, they get more intense, they intensify. Fear could never stay in one place, fear traps us more and more and more. Anxiety traps us more, more and more.”

In Timothy, Paul said to Timothy not to let anyone look down on him because he was young. The Lord is also speaking to us through that verse. Never let anyone look down on you because you are young or you are a woman because God is with you.

Teenage Girl Was On Her Way To A Weekend Party When She Heard God’s Voice Calling Her

This teenage girl was on her way to a weekend party when she heard God’s voice calling out to her. That moment changed her entire life!

Havilah Cunnington

Bethel Church pastor and minister Havilah Cunnington shared her life-changing experience when she was just a teen. Havilah grew up at church as her father was a minister. However, she really didn’t have a relationship with God. She was just a church kid trying to fit in while living a different life at school.

One weekend night, some guys picked her and her twin sister up to go to a party. They were seated in the backseat while the music is playing, it was a typical weekend night for a teenager. Little did she know that her life will be changing at that moment. Havilah suddenly heard the audible voice of God calling out to her.

“Havilah, what are you doing? You cannot live like this. I have a purpose in your life, you can’t do this,” God said to her as she remembered.

Weekend Party

Surprised by what she has heard, she asked their guy friends to turn the music down. Out of the blue, she then declared to them that God has a calling for her. She starting to cry as the Holy Spirit touched her. Havilah then invited them to come with her as she serves the Lord.

“I’m going to serve God. You’re welcome to come with me if you want but this is what I’m going to do,” she said to her friends.

God’s Calling

As she looked to her side, she saw her twin sister Deborah crying. Havilah knew at that moment that the Lord was also doing something in her heart. Their guy friends brought them back home, and when they entered their room, they surrendered their lives to God.

“God… I am not much, I am young, I’m 17, I’m a girl and I don’t have any special gifts or graces on my life… God, if you can use anyone, you are welcome to use me,” Havilah prayed to God.

That moment changed her and Deborah’s entire life and brought them to where they are now. Today, they are ministering to other people and encouraging them to also follow God’s calling for their lives.
