Singer Gwen Stefani credited God for their two-year marriage with fellow singer Blake Shelton saying, “God just put us together.”
Gwen Stefani
In a recent episode of the Drew Barrymore Show, Gwen Stafani opened up about her marriage with Blake Shelton after a heartbreaking divorce. She also talked about her faith in God and how God orchestrated her relationship and marriage with her fellow singer.
Gwen has previously been married to Bush band member, Gavin Rossdale for 13 years. However, things didn’t go well and they had to file for divorce. Their separation has greatly affected Gwen and their three children, Apollo Bowie Flynn, Zuma Nesta Rock, and Kingston James McGregor. The singer felt hopeless and thought that her life was completely over.
“I was like, ‘I’m gonna wake up every day. I’m gonna have a coffee. I’m gonna take care of my kids, and then I’m gonna go to bed,’” Gwen told Drew. “Like I’m never gonna kiss anyone. I thought my life was over.”
Blake Shelton
When she and Blake Shelton started dating after years of moving on, Gwen knew that it was God who got them together. Though they worked together as judges of “The Voice,” they never talked about their marital discord. Blake has also been previously married to Miranda Lambert for five years before they decided to split up.
“I was in shock because I felt like he was exposing me. I just couldn’t even wrap my head around it,” she said. “I didn’t want anyone to know what was going on with me…I had this huge weight on me and nobody but my parents and obviously everybody involved knew.”
Because of how Blake opened up about his divorce, Gwen also opened up to the public about hers.
“Unbelievable that God would put us in a position to have each other at that moment, in the same exact moment,” Gwen said.
Faith in God
Gwen wasn’t trying to find someone else during her heartbreaking moment but God sent him a man who could love her. In 2021, the two celebrities finally tied the knot. As they celebrate their wedding anniversary, Gwen is crediting God for bringing them together.
“God put us together. It was one of those situations where I didn’t see it coming.”
Because of Gwen’s faith in the Lord, Blake also started to see God in everything. Eventually he became a Christian and started recording songs about his faith in God.
“Naturally I start seeing God in everything, because she does,” Blake said. “Of course, that starts bleeding into my records and my music, and next thing you know, I’m recording songs and writing songs about faith and God.”
