The Battles In Our Mind Disappear In His Presence

Our mind is the centre of our operations. We think through situations and problems and come to a solution. We are not animals that just react by their senses. We sense and then process it and decide if it is good or bad. Most of the time we decide to do the right thing. However many times we choose to do the wrong thing. This is what Paul describes in Romans 7 where he wants to do the right but ends up choosing the wrong. His solution was to move to the anointing in Romans 8. In Christ there is no condemnation and the case is closed. We are now free to choose what is right and to do it. However many still operate in Romans 7 and continue to battle in their minds.

Escape

God has provided a way of escape. In His presence there is peace and joy. None of the mind battles appear to matter any more. They disappear in His presence. The way into His presence is to meditate on His word and pray in the Holy Spirit. His word enters our mind and dispels all conflict and addictions of the mind. Many are held captive by obsessive thoughts that control them and there appears to be no way of escape. Demonic infiltration further compounds the problem. The devil plays games in our mind and we believe him rather than the word of God. God says that He has not given us a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind.

Partnership

We have now to partner with the Holy Spirit and walk in obedience to His word. His word divides between soul and spirit. His word is the sword of the spirit that is able to deliver us from our battles. His word is power and the word of His power will obliterate every attack of the enemy. The enemy will make you feel guilty and make you own his thoughts. He sows thoughts into your mind and then makes you own it. We need to discern the enemy’s tactics and not give in to him. We need to distance those negative thoughts and delete them from our mind. The Holy Spirit will provide the strategy required to do this. I find it helpful to distance myself from anything or person that will take the place of Jesus in my mind. My only attachment should be with Jesus. This is what will cause the separation from the world and all that will come against us.

The Battle Of Choice

It’s always our choice when we get heartbreaking news of our brothers and sisters in Haiti, in Afghanistan and even friends and loved ones here in the United States to either stand in faith for God’s victory or to agree with the fear the media is pushing along the way. I feel it is my civic duty as a citizen of heaven to remind each of us to not fear.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10

This is when I believe more than ever we are tested in His good and written word. Will we agree and believe in what He is saying above or will we crumble to the cry of fear on the streets? I am convinced more than ever that we are moving into times of being tested – “will we be ALL in or lukewarm?”. It may sound harsh and I am not one of those people who get the tickling ear prophetic words. I seem too often get the words that have quite a challenge ahead UNLESS our hearts turn completely to the Lord. There is always an invitation to know Him, to be on His winning team and to experience Christ’s victories in every battle. The question is, are we willing to lean into Him to discover this invitation? It is 100% our choice.

Evil cannot live with holiness. There can be no mixture. I want to encourage you to not allow the evil messaging of the world to infiltrate your mind in any way. Keep your thoughts centered upon the Lord for He is our help in times of trouble. Do not fear. You are loved. You are not alone. All you need “to do” is turn your heart completely to Him. Listen for His loving voice and do as He says. It is always for our best interest and for the best interest of those around us.

God’s Word For You Today: If The Battle Is Too Big, It’s Not Yours, Give It To God

2 Chronicles 20:15, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, for the battle does not belong to you, but to God.”

Today’s Message

If the battle is too big, it’s not yours – give it to God. You rest. God fights.

A lot of times, we find ourselves getting discouraged. Maybe because of many things in our life that don’t seem to go well. We often try our hardest to face our battles on our own and appear tough. But we end up locking ourselves in our room and cry ourselves to sleep. We feel so alone and hopeless that we forget how much God cares.

Yes, God cares a lot for you. He sees your tears. He knows that you are struggling. That’s why I encourage you today, give your battles to God. From this point on, let Him handle it for you. You can’t do it in your own strength, but with Him anything is possible. So entrust all your battles to God because He is powerful. In fact, your God is bigger and greater than all your struggles. So be discouraged no more, for God will show up for you.

Each of us has our own battles to face, so if you are feeling helpless and hopeless, know that you are not alone. Even in times when you feel all alone and overwhelmed by the storm you are in, God has not and will never leave you.

This time, I couldn’t hear the truth in the storm.

I couldn’t hear his voice,

I just felt that billowing waves wash over me, the noise,

I felt like my scars were eggshells,

And my tears were short.

I could feel my fears become oceans,

I couldn’t do it anymore,

Truth be told, I was over it.

The Battle

This battle you are fighting is only temporary. God is redeeming everything for you and He has won the victory for you! Soon, you will be out of the storm as a renewed and transformed person.

But then I realize that the shadows were only temporary

And every valley has a brook of water.

Pain is necessary.

Like a deer,

I became desperate for something revolutionary.

I submitted my pride

And rest in His tide sea.

This battle of the waves was a puddle in God’s face.

He saw the rainbow when I focused on the rain,

He saw the pot of gold at the end of the chains,

He saw the clouds when I saw the fog as barricades,

He sends my rain and He reigns over my life.

This is no mistake.

Here’s Jehovah Elohim o ancient of days.

The same yesterday, tomorrow, forever, and always.

If you are in pain right now, know that God’s eyes are on you. He knows your battles and your struggles, and His arms are stretching out to you today. There is hope in Jesus Christ, fix your eyes on Him and come unto His presence.

Relentless Woman, Give Your Battles To God

In this life, battles are inevitable. We all have our own fair share of struggles in a broken world where people strive to seek fulfillment and happiness. So, what’s the secret to winning in life?

Give Your Battles To God

Contrary to popular opinion that we must work hard and be persistent to win in life, giving our battles to God is the best way to win.

In 2 Chronicles, chapter 20 of the Bible tells of the war between Moabites and Ammonites against Jehoshaphat. When Jehoshaphat heard that a vast army from the enemy was planning to attack him, he was alarmed. But he turned to God in response. He “resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah” (verse 3). So, all the people of Judah came together to seek Him and inquire of Him. They acknowledged God’s sovereignty in the crisis they are facing, given that the enemy outnumbered them.

Then without delay, God responded in verses 15 to 17:

“He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: `Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel.

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'”

Notice how God assured Judah not to be afraid because the battle is His and that He is with them.

The Battle Is The Lord’s Not Yours

In this same way, God wants us to surrender our battles to Him, acknowledging that apart from Him, victory is impossible. It’s in the place of surrender that we win in life, not by our own hard work and persistence alone.

So, relentless woman, if you feel your burden is too heavy to handles, give it to God. The battle is the Lord’s, not yours.

The Road Beyond My Own Bolted Door: Healing From Pain

When my first book BEYOND THE BOLTED DOOR came out a month ago, I was so not prepared for the vast range of emotions I would have. I have gone from someone in pain who held back tears for years, to someone who cries every other 10 minutes! I hide within the confines of long naps. It feels like all those hidden, bottled up emotions were locked in an old wine bottle, stored in a dark, dusty cellar until that day when the 50 year old corkscrew flew off. I spilled out everywhere! THAT is the best way I have found yet to describe how I currently feel.

JOURNEY TO HEALING

I went through all that journey of backtracking into the cesspool of my hidden past, dealing with its ugliness, shame and effects on my life – it was too much of too much but I did it. I felt like I had to, to break it from being a curse that would come down through the generations of those I love the most. Now, it is done. I did it. And I am exhausted to the core of my soul. I have no more words. I have no smiles. I have no inspiration. I have no joy. I could sleep for days, weeks, months. So, now what. Well, I have learned that AFTER you heal from anything, you need therapy. After my knee replacements, physical therapy was a ‘have to’ in my healing. WHY would I think I could face my demons head on, slay them, and then just walk away like I hadn’t just battled for my life?

There Will Be Pain

When I had double knee replacement, they beat my old knees into smithereens – which means, they destroyed them. All the arthritis, all the decay, all the lameness, all the broken and fractured parts of both of my entire knees. I am SO glad I was NOT awake to witness that.
One week later, I ran in a 5K with my new knees and I won, as I outran every other runner – all 246 of them.
Kidding.
Of course.
I still have not run in a 5K.

Point being, I was in excruciating pain. I needed help. I needed physical therapy. I needed to do the same routine day after day, month after month of lifting my knees up and making them bend. It took a long time, not gonna lie. But little by little, my new knees made me feel like I was bionic; reborn even – like I had my teen knees back!

You know where I am going with this.

RECOVERY THERAPY

A dear friend said something so ridiculously simple to me as I tried to put my feelings into words to her – she said, “You need recovery therapy.” In writing my book, I did NOT realize that the road beyond my own bolted door would be unrecognizable to me. Our lives are governed by roads. Roads are pathways. They take us places. Simple concept, right? Except when we all of a sudden realize we are lost, and we have no idea which road is the right one. What if you spend your whole life backtracking to find the right road you should be on, or a detour you missed, or a new road that you never considered taking?

When you decide to get help for yourself, for whatever issue you have – whether physical or mental, it first comes with an admission that something is wrong – something is off. Then comes that stage of denial – I know something is wrong, but do I really want to know what it is. Do I really want to go through what will need to be done to get answers? Is the pain of healing really worth knowing the truth, no matter how dark and deep and terrible? We avoid truth because truth hurts. and it requires change. and it is out of our comfort zone. I mean, really – who says, bring on the pain!

Healing Is Painful

Healing is painful. Hear me. In fact, let me say it again – healing is painful. Anyone recovering from a surgery knows what I am talking about. Yes, you have new knees. Yes, your bone has been reset. Yes, you beat Covid. But there is an aftermath. And really, it is initially why we wait so long before we go see a doctor or get a diagnosis or start treatment. We KNOW it will change everything and we KNOW it will be painful. It seems easier to cover our eyes and ears and pretend everything is okay.

I was not prepared to heal from my shame and the burden of a secret carried for so long, and reappear as a stranger. Assuming, I thought I would know WHO I was when I ran into myself again. I really, really expected this. And THIS is NOT what happened. And THIS is why I have so much more to heal from, so I can share it with you. God has truly held me together and if there was ANY good in me to be seen or partaken of, well – it was only Him IN me. Somehow in all my dysfunction and PTSD and fear and shame, my ‘core being’ grabbed onto God and wouldn’t let go – or, He grabbed on to me and wouldn’t let ME go – or both! “I will cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose in me.” (Psalm 57:2)

PAIN TO PURPOSE

I can see now though something I never considered. We have to be spilled out for God to use us! If I never tell my story, then I never can comfort someone who feels alone in their story. If I don’t let myself feel all the feels, where will empathy for others’ pain be born? Maybe this is where I begin to live out the words I spoke in faith, while I was facing my spill. “You will do everything you have promised; LORD, Your love is eternal. Complete the work that You have begun.” (Psalm 138:8)

For all of us facing any truth of a painful secret or a hidden burden, it is much like having a surgery. It is a Soul Replacement Surgery, done by Doctor Jesus (who, by the way, never leaves random tools behind or charges too much or forgets to check on your progress.) The truth WILL set you free. And it will hurt while you heal. But, you did it. May all the shame and blame and pain RIP as you get your life back, piece by piece, little by little, step by step. Beyond The Bolted Door

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) I have learned I can trust God with my heart and with the road I am traveling on beyond my own bolted door.

Fighting To Grow Spiritually During The Pandemic

Psalm 91:4 says, “His faithful promises are your armour and protection.” This is a clear instruction on how to fight the battle. I must admit that Psalms 91 has become my solid rock, the Word I cling to, before and during the pandemic.

Battle with The Word

Everyday the battle is there, it is not yours, but God’s (2 Chronicles 20:17). However, you have an active part to play, that is to stand on the promises and Word of God. Additionally, this can be challenging during the pandemic, but I guess this can just be viewed as another storm. In this battle should you choose to fight the good fight of faith or should you give up, give in and just wither away? These are the fleeting thoughts that you may have. Paul reminds us about the things to meditate on, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8 NKJV).

The Next Step

The next step is to endure knowing that Jesus had to go through so much suffering and because of what He has done, His works, victory is ours. This Truth is what keeps us moving forward in faith everyday. It is Truth, the Word of God that never changes, never lies and never fails.

I know this season is difficult for many. But be encouraged, you are strong in the Lord. In the Lord is the safest place to be today and forever. He is our refuge, fortress, hedge of protection and He is Eternal. Look up today from that place of despair, depression, disappointment and feeling downtrodden.

This season of sadness, trial and tribulation will certainly end. God has promised that He will deliver us from from all our fears, troubles and anxieties. He never lies, He can be trusted and He never breaks His Promises. “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it” – (Psalms 118:24).

Break Free

Many of our battles are in the area of our soul, thoughts, feelings and will. Relationships are the main battle ground where our thoughts and feelings conflict with each other and the other person’s thoughts and feelings. This can sometimes lead to a break down in the relationship unless the relationship is strong enough to withstand these challenges.

These battles of the flesh are common to all. Some are able to manage this better than others. Lots of regressive behaviours are stirred up and sometimes violent thoughts and feelings lead to violence towards the other. How to be in a relationship and not allow these thoughts and feelings to dominate you is a challenge. Jesus came to show us the way out of this dilemma.

Jesus Is Our Example

He came to show us the way out of this dilemma by sending the Holy Spirit to help us. His Spirit is able to give us His thoughts and feelings in a situation. His thoughts and feelings are positive and bring healing and light. This way our thoughts and feelings don’t consume us. It’s possible to take the position of being dead in Him and alive in Him. We were crucified with Christ to those fleshly thoughts and feelings. Our will becomes His will.

Jesus’ will is to submit all to His Father in heaven. His peace and joy and love will keep you strong and steady in the midst of the storms. This is why you need to be filled in His Spirit and overflow in Him. Praying in tongues will help to stir up the spirit within you.

You Don’t Go Into Battles Alone

The battle is His now and you can sit back and watch Him deal with people and situations. What a Saviour we have in Jesus who took our place to save us from our destructive selves. Be free today in Jesus Name and live an abundant life.

How To Activate Your Armor In Spiritual Warfare

We all have battles. We know them intimately as inner struggles and outside circumstances. As long as we live in this fallen world, we’ll continue to face the consequences of it. That’s just reality. We need the armor of God.

Be this as it may, we don’t have to be defined nor defeated by our battles either. And what makes that possible is entirely dependent upon how we confront them.

I learned this in a profound way some years ago when I first decided to step into ministry. Almost the moment I did, reminders of past regrets and present problems all resurfaced, causing me to question whether or not I was worthy to do the work of the Lord.

After feeling too disqualified—and nearly walking away—I was led to perhaps the most famous passage of Scripture for how to confront battles: Ephesians 6:10–18, what’s commonly called “the armor of God.”

As I opened my Bible to reread what I thought was familiar, I began to see the text in a fresh way that changed everything for me.

There’s so much to cover. But for now, I want to unpack two foundational words for understanding how to activate the armor to win your battles.

1) “Stand”

“Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might,” Paul begins (Eph. 6:10, ESV). This opening alerts us that victory isn’t had through personal willpower. No, we win our battles only from our position “in Christ.”

Paul’s second instruction continues this theme and contains the first revealing word: “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil” (v. 9).

The first word we’ll focus on is “stand.”

What makes this word stand out is that this isn’t the only time Paul uses it. Count how often “stand” is referenced in the verses that follow: “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore …” (Eph. 6:13–14).

In all, Paul uses a form of “stand” four times in only four verses.

Why is this significant?

Because “stand” is counter to what most of us think regarding how to use the armor. That is, many were taught to “suit up” in the armor to engage in a fight with the enemy.

But Paul doesn’t say “fight,” he says, “stand.” And this a monumental principle: winning your battles isn’t about having a fight with a devil who’s defeated, but it’s about standing in the victory of Jesus, the One who defeated him.

Paul goes on to list everything we are to stand in, represented by six articles of a soldier’s armor: 1) truth, 2) righteousness, 3) peace, 4) faith, 5) salvation and 6) God’s Word.

It’s important to understand that each of these aren’t qualities we strive or fight for. But rather, they are qualities we each already possess as ones “in the Lord.” They each represent an aspect of our identity in Christ. And as I explore in depth in my armor of God study, it’s simply standing in each of these qualities that wins our battles.

2) “Put on”

Perhaps this begs the question: “How do you actually stand in these qualities?”

The second critical word provides the answer. It’s “put on,” which is Paul’s first instruction for what to do with the armor: “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand …” (v. 11).

The significance of this gets somewhat lost in translation. “Put on” from the Greek word, enduo, means “to be saturated into” or “to take on the character of.”

I often liken it to what an actor does to get into a character. They literally have to take on the character’s qualities—their thinking, speaking, walking, and so on. Through these disciplines, over time, the actor “becomes” the character.

Of course, God isn’t asking us to put on an act. But to “put on” the armor means that we think and speak about ourselves and our situations according to who we are and what we have in Him. It’s all about identifying with Jesus and His finished work!
