Social Media Is Helping Spread The Gospel—’We Definitely Needed This To Happen With All Of The Evil’

Revival means to be revived and hearts are most definitely being revived. Social media is helping spread the Gospel as news of what God is doing at Asbury University and beyond has surfaced.

In an Instagram post @iam.sblym402 shared, “I was blessed with the opportunity to attend a night at the Asbury Revival/Awakening with @cccomacollege . Such a life changing experience! God was truly exalted and Christ was magnified.”

The post shows hundreds of students worshiping the Lord. James 4:8 promises that as we “draw near to God, He will draw near to you” and we are seeing this first hand!

@iam.sblym402 went on to say, “We definitely needed this to happen with all of the evil running rampant in the world. Consider this a sign to repent and call on the Lord of Lords. Jesus Christ is our healer and sanctifier. In Him you will find the hope, peace, love, and wisdom you seek. For He is the Truth, the Way, and the Life. He is the ONLY way. This world is temporary, though His grace is eternal! ❤️‍????????????????”

Social Media Is Helping Spread The Gospel

In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus gives the Great Commandment to go make disciples of “all nations.” In today’s digital world, we are seeing the “nations” of Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok, and more be used as vehicles for spreading the Gospel.

@iam.sblym402 ended his post with an invitation to know Christ,

“I pray that whoever is reading this right now will seek You Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that You heal them of their pain and suffering. I pray that You show up in their life right now my Lord. I pray that you show them a miracle as You have shown so many others. I pray that their heart is softened and opened wide to accept Your grace my Lord. I pray that You bring them to Your Father when their time comes. I pray that You fill them with the Holy Spirit. I need You to move right now my Lord. It is in Your holiest of holy Names that I pray, amen!

All you have to do now is accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. Ask for Him to enter into your life. Repent your sins now and He will forgive you. Ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Are you ready to be saved? Do you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior?”

Asbury Revival Testimony: “I Was There Last Night For The Closing Service”

An Asbury revival testimony just came in on what it was like to witness the closing meeting of the campus revival that sparked a nationwide revival.

Matt Sorger went to the closing service of the Asbury University revival, and this is what he has to say:

“I was there last night for the closing service of the #asburyrevival What I witnessed: people gathering from all over to worship God. Loving Him. People would spontaneously come to the alters praying, repenting, some weeping loudly. Outbursts of praise would erupt in the gathering. The message focused on love, humility, holiness, intimacy with God with a focus of carrying God’s presence out. So many young people giving their all to Jesus. ????????❤️????”

Campus Revival

The last several weeks we’ve seen students seeking God at many universities across America. Asbury University was the first, then Lee, Campbellsville, Samford, Cedarville, Texas A&M, Baylor, and other schools participated.

Because of their testimonies, many others have also come to witness what God has been doing. The revival will continue as long as people stay hungry for more of God.

People Across the Nation

There were many people all over the nation who drove hours and waited in line to experience God’s presence. Asher Segelken, one of the attendees, even said, “God is worth a 12 hour wait. God is worth endless prayers. I witnessed 30k people wait in line to worship God. He’s worth it. His sweetness is evident as we sing Draw me close. It’s like a Father playing peek a boo with his kids. He’s not far but he keeps revealing his face in new ways and everyone is overjoyed at every revelation.”

Asbury Revival Ends: “…Will Mark The End Of This Historic Multi-Week Gathering”

A recent announcement came in that this Thursday, the Asbury revival meetings are stopping. This comes after two weeks of nonstop on-campus prayer and worship.

Asbury University President Dr. Kevin Brown’s Announcement

The president of Asbury University made an official statement. He indicated that the almost 2-week-long spontaneous gathering, praying, and worshiping will end:

“On February 8, 2023, Asbury University’s regularly scheduled chapel service never ended. What we have experienced since that Wednesday morning has been a current of immeasurable goodness flooding our community and quickly moving into other regions of the world. Words fail any effort to communicate the abundance of experiences and stories that will leave us forever changed.

Others from all throughout the state joined the students during the prayers, which lasted for about two weeks. “The power of social media makes this worldwide,” Wilmore, Kentucky Mayor Harold Rainwater told Nexstar’s WDKY last week.

Asbury Revival Ends On National Collegiate Day of Prayer

Many have wondered if this ongoing revival will ever stop, and the university president addressed it in his announcement:

“Thursday, February 23, will mark the end of this historic multi-week gathering at Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary with the National Collegiate Day of Prayer broadcast hosted on our campus. I find it fitting that what started with college students on our campus is ending with college students joined in prayer and worship across the country.

I have been asked if Asbury is “stopping” this outpouring of God’s Spirit and the stirring of human hearts. I have responded by pointing out that we cannot stop something we did not start. This was never planned. Over the last few weeks, we have been honored to steward and host services and the guests who have traveled far and wide to attend them. The trajectory of renewal meetings is always outward—and that is beginning to occur. We continue to hear inspiring stories of hungry hearts setting aside daily routines and seeking Christ at schools, churches, and communities in the US and abroad.

The effort by committed men and women on our campus to redirect energy, forsake other obligations, work tirelessly around the clock. And provide single-minded labor to accommodate our students and incoming visitors has been the high point in my career. In fact, it may be the most extraordinary act of collective Godliness and hospitable goodwill I have ever witnessed in my life. I am forever grateful. I am forever changed.

Whatever words people use to describe what we’ve seen and experienced over the last few weeks—revival, awakening, outpouring. This is a movement from God that He planned long before we were aware of it. This revival sparked and ignited different churches and universities, and this is only the beginning!
