People flounder about in life when they do not have goals, or they may have goals but they do not know their purpose.
This is different from a successful life that we all envisioned to have. People who have found their purpose and meaning in life are alive, passionate, intentional and driven. They know what they need to accomplish, what relationships they need to nurture and the impact they want to have in other people’s lives. It is God-driven. If we opt and settle with our self-made goals that are not aligned with our God-given purpose, then we’ll miss out on the true meaning of success.
It is different from the kind of success that others think we should have – fame and fortune. There’s nothing wrong with being popular or gaining material wealth but if that is the sole barometer of success, then it is not true success. The success we should aim for is the one that builds our character, nourishes our relationship with others and affirms our obedience to God’s call as I’ve learned from Dr. Charles Stanley’s amazing book, Success God’s Way.
If you still don’t know what you are supposed to do in life:
– pray for God’s direction because He is the one who planted that desire in your heart,
– look back and assess your talents and abilities,
– find your passion, think of people you can impact with your gifts and trust God to help you succeed.
