GOD TV joins world leaders and Christians across the globe in condeming the Sri Lanka bomb blasts. We have been broadcasting across Sri Lanka for 16 years bringing a message of goodwill despite those who oppose freedom of religion and our hearts go out to all affected by these terror attacks.
According to our Regional Director, David Nicolle three churches in Colombo were attacked by suicide bombers as Christians gathered for Easter Sunday services. In addition, there were attacks on three hotels, also in the nation’s capital.
Sri Lanka Bomb Blasts
The Kochikade, St Sebastian and Batticaloa churches were attacked as well as the Hotel Shangri La, Cinnamon Grand and the Kingsbury hotel. The blasts took place at around 8.45 am (local time) with the latest count of 207 people dead and hundreds injured.
Every terror attack is a tragedy and especially when people of faith are targeted in their place of worship. Unfortunately such attacks are becoming all too frequent. Not so long ago we saw Jewish people gunned down in their synagogue in the USA, two mosques targeted in New Zealand, churches in Cairo under constant attack and now the senseless killing of more than 200 people today.
We stand against these attacks which target people of faith and pray for all who have lost loved ones, that they will be comforted by the Holy Spirit in their grief. May the perpetrators be quickly brought to justice to avoid further violence.

Increasing attacks on Christians in Sri Lanka
It is being said that these attacks in Sri Lanka are the worst in a decade. However unfortunately violent discrimination against Christians is ongoing. According to the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL) there were 86 incidents of threats and violence against Christians in 2018 and there have already been 26 attacks this year. (Reuters), This has to stop.
Sri Lanka is primarily Buddhist, with only 7.6 percent Christians. Despite this, GOD TV has a growing following in the island nation with a regional officie in Colombo and David Nicolle is involved in numerous humanitarian projects. Last year he was honored by the United Nations and he continues to have a vision to strive to make Sri Lanka a better place.
As a regular visitor to Sri Lanka’s northern region which was once devastated by war, David knows well the disaster religious intolerance brings. We join him and our team in Sri Lanka in intercession for the entire country as it comes to terms with this national tragedy.
