The wife of Louie Giglio and the co-founder of Passion Movement, Shelly Giglio, shared a deep revelation during the Speak Conference. It was a gathering that hoped to create a space where communicators could develop their hearts for preaching. One of their speakers, Shelly, mentioned about cultivating the light of Jesus. She recalled one of her fears which was stage fright. “The first time I probably stood on a stage, I might have been 40 years old,” she shared.
She admitted that she didn’t want to do it. She knew that in her earlier days, God wasn’t ready to trust her at that moment. That’s when she highlighted that she had spent enough time in the back hallway where God could mold her life. Then, she emphasized, “I knew that I wanted the light in me to be stronger than the light on me.” She stressed the importance of making the light of Jesus stronger than the light that was on people.

Furthermore, she explained that she chose not to rush when she was young. Then, she said that people are now living in a ‘rushing’ culture. For instance, if they noticed a 22-year-old who was gifted, they would rush them on stage. “I think we do people a disservice sometimes by putting the light on them and having it be stronger than the light that’s in them,” she said.
Moreover, one of the Speak Conference attendees commented, “This was one of the best parts of the entire conference. So beautiful & vulnerable.” Indeed, this is an important reminder to cultivate our relationship with Jesus before standing on the pulpit.
