Christian singer Edgar Sandoval Jr. is reminding everyone to run well, not fast.
Edgar Sandoval Jr.
In his recent Instagram post, the 28-year-old singer narrated what the Holy Spirit taught him while he was running some time ago. After finishing a round of his run, he observed that he ran the mile for more than 10 minutes. Wanting to beat it in under 10 minutes, he sprinted into his next round. However, he noticed that he wasn’t running well during that round.
“A few weeks ago, I was running a few miles outside. As I was finishing my run, I looked at my watch and it said my average pace was 10 minutes and 13 seconds per mile. So I said to myself, ‘I’m going to just sprint so I can get under 10 minutes per mile.’ Five seconds and I’m sprinting super hard and I’m exhausted and I’m also running really sloppily,” he recalled.

Run well, not fast
That’s when the Lord spoke to him through the Holy Spirit. The Lord reminded him that just as what he had noticed with his run, that’s also how sloppy our lives would be if we’d live life hurriedly. The Lord wants his people to remember that we should run the race well and not fast.
“But as I was sprinting, I felt the Holy Spirit just invade my mind and say, ‘I want you to run well, not fast. Run the race well, not fast.’ Not in a hurry, not trying to outperform anyone, including yourself, just run it well. You know what I realized? I realized that when you run well, you finish well.”
Life is never about who gets to finish the race first, it’s about how well we run in the race. We experience growth in the process and not on the finish line. In the end, when we get to see Jesus face-to-face, He will compliment us on how we ran the race and not how fast we finished it.
“What are the words that we want to hear when we stand in front of Jesus? ‘Well done My good and faithful servant.’ Not quickly done, not good hustle champ, well done. So run the race of life well so that you can finish well and hear, ‘Well done My good and faithful servant.'”
