Jim Caviezel, the actor who played Jesus in the Passion of Christ, declared that its sequel, “Resurrection,” will become the biggest film in history. It is set to film this coming spring.
The Sequel of The Passion of Christ
With the filming taking place very soon, many viewers, who have been anticipating the Mel Gibson movie, are very excited about the upcoming film.
Jim has been hinting about the sequel since 2018 and has even declared the film to be the “biggest” in history. He said, “I won’t tell you how he’s going to go about it. But I’ll tell you this much, the film he’s [Mel Gibson] going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good.”

GodTV reported that the sequel will pick up from “24 hours after Jesus’ death,” more specifically, on the “events that occurred three days between his death and resurrection.”
Gibson has been working hard on the movie’s script. World of Reel reported that the filmmaker collaborates with “Braveheart” screenwriter Randall Wallace. “There have already been six drafts.”
Jim will still play Jesus in the second movie. Maia Morgensten will join him as she continues to play Mary, Christo Jivkov as John, and Francesco De Vito as Peter.
Resurrection
Mel shared the subject of the sequel back in 2016 with Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show.” He revealed that it may “feature characters visiting other realms.”
“It’s not just some chronological telling of just that event,” Mel explained. “That could be boring, and you think, ‘Oh, we read that.’ But what are the other things around it that happened?”
He added, “It’s a big subject. It’s more than a single event, it’s an amazing event. And to underpin that with the things around it is really the story, to enlighten what that means.”
Years of hard work will surely pay off for this upcoming and another blockbuster movie!
