Reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray has given glory to God and shared about her journey at the Binibining Pilipinas 2019 beauty pageant on June 9, 2019. This is the contest that selects the nation’s entrants for Miss Universe and Miss International.
During the evening Catriona also crowned Gazini Christiana Ganados as Miss Universe Philippines 2019.
Catriona Gray
Catriona Elisa Gray is the fourth Miss Universe from the Philippines after winning the pageant in 2018. She is well-known for her heart for disadvantaged children and those living with HIV/AIDs.
The beauty queen works closely with Young Focus Philippines, an NGO that provides free education and school sponsorships for children in Tondo Manila, one of the poorest neighborhoods of the capital. Catriona is an advocate for HIV/AIDS education and prevention after losing a close friend to the virus. She additionally supports Love Yourself Philippines, an organization that offers free testing, education, and treatment for those with HIV/AIDS.
Faith in God
The Miss Universe has always been open about her faith in God even before winning the pageant. Now once again, she has glorified God in her heart-melting speech during the Binibining Pilipinas at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Before crowning Gazini as this year’s Miss Universe Philippines, Catriona shared a few powerful words with the audience. “Above all, thank You, Jesus, I lift up everything to glorify and honor You, God. All that I have achieved has been made possible by You,” she said.
In the video below Catriona also shares about her struggles on her journey towards becoming Miss Universe. “Like every single person, I had to overcome the fear that comes from within. The fear of falling short, the fear of failure, the fear of not measuring up,” she said.
And then she shared how she overcame all her fears by faith. “But I conquered my fear with faith – faith that God purposely set me on this path and that He would not give me a burden too heavy to carry. And faith in myself, because I knew that I was not perfect. But I knew I’m determined,” she added.

“Conquer with a purpose”
Truly, Catriona has glorified God with her life and her crown as Miss Universe! She has also challenged millions to live a life of purpose.
“Inside each and every one of us is a king or a queen with the ability to conquer the universe, but first we have to conquer ourselves – whatever that may be for you; then we have to conquer what others think of us; and finally conquer with a purpose to conquer our dreams.”
