After weeks of ongoing unplanned prayer and worship gatherings on campus, Regent University has decided to make room for revival by holding open prayer and worship gatherings.
New Great Spiritual Awakening?
Since the outpouring of the Spirit at Asbury University, many campuses across the United States have made space for revival to continue. Many Christians believe that what God began pouring out at Asbury is a “potential new great awakening within Christian history.” It has sparked hope among believers, many whom are praying that the revival in the 1970s could unfold again. According to the report, the 1970 Asbury Revival “was seen as a significant driver behind the Jesus Movement of the 70s.”

God Pursuing The Gen Z
Dr. Jeff Gossman, the Campus Ministries Director of Regent University, visited the Asbury Campus. And after he returned, he felt God wanted to pursue the heart of the younger generation.

“God is making known His claim on GenZ,” he remarked. “This generation has suffered so much loss due to the pandemic. This current outpouring is like their coming-of-age party, where Jesus says to them, ‘I see you. Welcome to the table.'”
Furthermore, Regent’s School of Divinity Dean, Dr. Corne Bekker, also felt the same prompting.
“This is their moment where God is getting a hold of (Gen Z) hearts,” he said. “Their eyes are opening, and they are surrendering their lives to Christ.”
Making Room For Revival At Regent University
As a result of revival spreading across America, believers in Regent University have also flocked to the campus chapel. According to CBN, unplanned gatherings have been taking place at the University. Additionally, more and more students are attending the weekly chapel service “over the past couple of weeks.”
“These gatherings – some up to six hours long – have been marked by humble worship, teaching of scripture, prayer, repentance, and spiritual renewal,” Regent University stated.
And because of these events, Regent University decided to make room for revival. They “will now be holding open prayer and worship from March 6th through March 10th in the Shaw Chapel on the campus,” CBN reported.
