A mom of three shared a tip from her experience during her recent child birth. She said, “Worship your way through labor!”
Worship Your Way Through Labor
Nicole Lela Green was having trouble with the labor of her third child. According to her, “The baby’s head was stuck behind my pelvis bone for quite some time.” As a result, it slowed down her progress in active labor.
She then remembered what she read from Ina May Gaskin’s book, “Guide to Childbirth.” The author talked about how a woman sang through her labor to help through her contractions. So, Nicole decided to try it out. But she even took it to another level. She worshipped.
“I wanted to try it for myself when my labor seemed to slow down, and WOW! First off, inviting the presence of God into that moment is the most beautiful and spiritual experience.”
Nicole added that the moment became more special because her sister was helping her out. As shown in the video, the two sang together and worshipped the Lord.

She said, “Low moans and groans through contractions help move your baby down. So, I took the low harmony in this song.” The sisters sang “Oh, how I Need You” by All Sons and Daughters.

Singing and Labor
“Singing helps with breathing and is a great distraction method which can relax a woman while experiencing labor pains.”
Nicole added, “Music typically leads to swaying or dancing. Movement during labor is a great way to create new space in the pelvis to get baby to move down into birth canal.”
Moreover, “singing boosts the hormone oxytocin, which is the main driver of labor and birth. It signals the uterus to contract and promotes progression in labor.”
