Family and Church members of American missionaries, Jean Philippe Quetant and wife, Erna Plancher-Quetant are asking for prayers as the couple was found dead in their home in Haiti.
NBC2 in Fort Myers reported that a local armed gang intruded their residence and stole some of their belongings. While they were at it, they also shot the Quetants who had only been serving as missionaries in Haiti for about a month. The couple had just started planting a church in the community and building an orphanage. They leave behind five young children.
Tabitha Quetant, their daughter, said, “It just feels surreal. They could have just taken everything and left them alone, they wouldn’t have done anything.” She added, “If I could speak to them now, I would just say mom and dad I love you and I thank you so much for the way you raised us.”

Jean Philippe and Erna originally came from Haiti. They moved to the United States years ago for better opportunities. But Haiti remained in their hearts. They desired to come back and serve their hometown, which they did. Sadly, it did not end well.
Their eldest son, Kevin, set up a GoFundMe page to ask for help in bringing their parents’ bodies back home. “Our father Jean Phillippe was a very well-known Pastor who loved God and his community with all his soul. Jean Phillippe would often wake up nights and pray over their children as they slept. A true protector, loving father,” he wrote in tribute to his parents.
“Our mother Erma was a dedicated frontline healthcare worker, working long hours in order to provide for her family. She would come home exhausted but always made sure she had her children ready for church every Sunday and a family dinner prepared every night.”
The family is asking for prayers during this difficult time.
