According to CBS, Hurricane Dora was partly to blame for the intensified wildfire. Apparently, the storm that had passed near Maui created “strong winds and low humidity” that fueled the fire even more. Hurricane Dora had “gusts above 60 mph that knocked out power as night fell, rattled homes and grounded firefighting helicopters.”

Maui Couple
KTVU FOX 2 San Francisco has interviewed a Maui couple who are returning to their hometown. The couple shared they’re unsure “if their home would still be there when they land.”
The two were brought to tears as they shared how they felt seeing the news. Apparently, they went on a vacation in Bay Area and left everything in their home in Lahaina. They aren’t sure if their home survived the fire, especially their two dogs.
In the recorded short clip shared by the outlet, a massive fire engulfed the popular tourist town in Hawaii. The fire wounded many, and the Coast Guards had to rescue a dozen who jumped into the water to escape the flames.

Drone Video Of Intense Flames
Furthermore, drone video revealed the wildfire burning through the town. It had an “intense wall of flames from fires in Kehei.” And “there are also brush fires on the big island.”
Maui is the second largest island in Hawaii. It is also known as “The Valley Isle,” visited by tourists for its “world-famous beaches.” According to Go Hawaii, “Maui has been voted ‘Best Island in the U.S.’.”
The wildfire has devastated families and many are displaced from the island.
This is a call for us Christians to pause and pray for the victims. May God bring peace and comfort in these trying times!
