When pastor Dave Krist was diagnosed with cancer, he was told he needed surgery immediately in order to live.
But God told him to wait.
Pastor Dave Krist
Dave Krist is one of the pastors of Gateway Assembly Church. He is one of the ministers at “We Are One” conferences and has been one of the servant leaders of the “We Are One Youth” ministry.

Dave has been serving the ministry of God for a very long time and through different seasons of life, no matter how hard it has been. But one particular experience humbled him to his knees– he was diagnosed with cancer.
“And they told me that it’s the worst that has been. It’s growing; it is increasing in size. It made its way to a lymph node,” he said.
Diagnosed With Cancer
His diagnosis was difficult for him to accept. He went to several doctors who told him so many different things. He said, “I’ve seen like ten doctors at this point. Some told me if I don’t start chemo, I’ll die. Others told me that I need to get surgery right away.”
Dave planned to schedule the surgery after the conference where he would be ministering. But he admitted it was hard for him to do.
“I could just feel the chains of cancer. It wasn’t so much the physical, it was the mental. It was the fear. Fear just wants to crush you. But I chose last year to show up to the conference with faith and do the only thing that I knew how to do. I showed up last year and I just started praying and I started praising,” he said.
A Pastor Diagnosed With Cancer Received A Miracle
At the end of the conference, Dave closed in prayer and blessed everyone. He was getting ready to leave when someone said, “Well, we want to pray for you, Pastor Dave.”

“They all got around me and they just started praying. And it’s crazy because not only could I just feel God’s power on my life, but no joke, in that moment God confirmed to me and gave a vision. He spoke to me right there,” Dave recalled what happened.
He left the conference knowing that the surgery was pending, but he felt spiritually strong after the leaders and pastors prayed for him.
“I just felt God just tell me clearly, “Don’t get the surgery.” I know that’s what everybody’s saying, but my word was “wait.” It was just so clear,” he said.
Wait On The Lord
“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31, NKJV).
“So, I just waited and waited and waited. Waiting feels like eternity, but I just waited,” were Dave’s words.
Until one of his doctors contacted him. He was told, “We’ll never call it smaller. Unless it’s at least 50% smaller, we’ll just call it stable.”
But God had done something miraculous.
“I just got my last scan. And she called me, “I got good news for you. I’ve been looking at all of your different scans, I’ve been tracking it, and I’ve been watching it. I just want you to know that as I’m watching it, it’s getting smaller. It’s getting smaller and smaller. Every single scan is getting smaller,” Dave shared.
Today he’s finally free!
“I just want to encourage somebody tonight. If you feel like your hands are tied, it’s okay. Because you’re in the perfect posture for prayer already. If you feel like you can’t do anything about it, it’s okay. You’re already right where you need to be, in a humble place to seek the Lord,” Dave concluded.
