Tony Kell shared his powerful testimony of how God’s word played a significant role in helping him overcome fear, anxiety, and depression.
His Story
Since his sophomore year of high school, Tony Kell had an enduring sense of heaviness and darkness that seemed to constantly linger over him.
“Like I was expecting something bad to happen to me,” he said. “No matter where I went, no matter what I did, I expected something bad to happen.”
During his time in high school, Tony Kell grappled with frequent panic attacks and battled persistent depression. Consequently, he made the decision to be homeschooled, believing that isolating himself within the confines of his home provided a shield against the challenges he faced.
“I basically draw myself out with video games,” he said. “I didn’t think about my problems anymore. So I was playing video games from sun up till whenever. And then as I’m trying to go to sleep, I can’t really sleep.”

As his panic attacks grew more severe, Tony consulted his mother for guidance on what steps to take. Her reply was: “You got two options. You can either give it to God and let Him take care of it, or you could go to the doctors who will get you medication.”
Tony chose not to rely on medications, opting instead to dive into reading the Bible. He also began attending church regularly, actively involving himself in a youth group.
“When I came to church, I started to really try to pay attention instead of just sitting there. And it was like the pastor was speaking to me. It was like his words were for me. That was drawing me to come back more,” he said.

“Back then, it felt like I had a heaviness over me that I couldn’t shake. It felt like I was in darkness everyday, all day until I was able to actually come to God and give it all to Him. It was like a light switch to where now I’m not in this dark place anymore,” he said.
