Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a situation assessment in the IDF’s Southern Command on Tuesday with Minister of Defense Benny Gantz, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, and other senior IDF officers, as southern Israel was being pounded by over 300 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip in less than 24 hours.
Netanyahu stated at the end of the session that Israel is in the “midst of a campaign. Since yesterday, the IDF has been conducting hundreds of attacks on Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza. We have eliminated commanders, and have hit many of their quality targets.”
“The conclusion of the meeting is to further increase both the intensity of the attacks and the rate of attacks,” he declared.

“Hamas will receive blows that it did not expect. I know that this also involves patience and a certain sacrifice on your part,” he said to the citizens of the south.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has bombed hundreds of Hamas and Islamic Jihad targets in the Gaza Strip and has killed several senior military commanders since the commencement of Operation Guardian of the Walls on Monday night.
The head of the Islamic Jihad’s special rocket unit Jihad, Samah Abd al-Mamluk, was killed in an IAF strikes together with other terrorists.
The IDF has deployed artillery units to the Gaza border and ordered the mobilization of 5,000 reserve soldiers.
Tanks and further infantry reinforcements are on their way to the border with Gaza.
Gantz stated Monday night that the IDF ” will continue in the coming days with powerful actions of strategic significance to the activities of terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip, and we will not stop until the peace returns. We will not stop until we achieve long-term peace and severe damage to the terrorist infrastructure.”
