After experiencing the miraculous recovery of her 5-year-old son, who was thrown from a mall’s third floor, mom decided to share her side of the story. She highlights the power of prayer and forgiveness.
Miracle of Landen
In a recent interview, Kari Hoffman recalled to Good Morning America the incident three years ago that changed their lives. She said, “I was frozen in time until I was able to speak, and now is the time that is right in our lives where we’ve done a lotta healing.”
Kari believes that today is the time to move forward with the miracle story of her son, Landen.
On April 12, 2019, Kari and Landen were enjoying their time in the Mall of America. Then, Emmanuel Aranda suddenly snatched Landen and threw him from the balcony of the mall’s third floor.
It happened so fast that Kari could not react in time. “I was just frozen,” she recalled. The little boy landed on the first floor with broken arms and legs.

Prayer and Forgiveness
CBN News reported that witnesses claimed that in the midst of the screaming, they could hear Kari yelling, “just pray!”
“I don’t care who was looking. If they were looking, I asked them to pray,” Kari declared.
They rushed Landen to the hospital and put him inside the emergency brain trauma surgery. Relatives waited as Landen underwent the operation. And they were all there when the doctors came back with the good news of Landen’s condition.
Kari noted that although her son stayed in the hospital for four months, he was discharged just in time for kindergarten.
Today, Kari appeared on national TV and spoke of forgiveness. She has forgiven Emmanuel because “it’s a decision that you have to make so that God can do what he needs to do in your life … and that was to save Landen.”
She added, “Angels caught him. There’s no denying it. Yes, he had injuries, and we had to live through all of this pain to get to the end. But sometimes God allows us to go through things to teach us something.”
Landen is now 8 years old and enjoys playing hockey and celebrating life.
