Michael Koulianos discussed David’s secret in defeating the enemy, especially Goliath.
Michael Koulianos
The founder of Jesus Image Church, Michael Koulianos, preached about the story of David in one of his sermons. He emphasized that David did not kill Goliath merely because he hated the giant. His motive was different. David killed him because he loved the God that Goliath was mocking.
Then, he said that many people wanted to be giant killers, but they weren’t in love. He considered them as mercenaries who had no longevity.
“There’s no touch of glory. There’s no Radiance in their eyes. Their countenance seems worldly… They’re doing the stuff, but that moisture is not present,” he explained.
Furthermore, he mentioned how David referred to himself at the end of his life. He could have chosen anything, but David identified himself as a sweet psalmist of Israel. Before being known as a warrior, he recognized himself as a worshipping lover. After that, he highlighted David’s secret in defeating the enemy. It was written in Psalms 18:1, “I love you, Lord, my strength.”
David’s Secret
Moreover, he shared, “Do you want strength to defeat the enemy? Fall in love. Find prayer. Find the presence of the spirit. Surrender your heart so that He can work through you and talk through you.” He believed that when God’s presence became thick and rich, and when He captured his attention, that was when faith was available.
He also discussed the habits that people have. “Sometimes, we say before we pray. We ask before Jesus’s presence is real to us. And we ask a miss. And we call the neglect of his presence, unfortunately, faith,” he cited. For him, what people were doing was a sign of independence.
Lastly, he remarked, “The faithful are in love with the Faithful One.”
