This married couple shares some struggles that they experienced while working together in ministry.
Ben and Jodie Hughes
On a recent episode of Get Real, Ben and Jodie Hughes of Pour It Out Ministries share with Ron Cantor the issues they encountered as a married couple working together in ministry. The couple who has been married for over 23 years shared how both their strong personalities often lead to conflicts. They also shared how God has worked in their lives through the years to draw them together.
“We’ve fought like crazy many times and often. But we’ve made a priority individually and together that we want to be in the presence of God,” Jodie said. “Somehow, when you hate each other in those moments. And you come into the presence of God, God does a real work in your heart.”
Marriage Issues
Ben then encouraged other couples that there’s always hope in every situation because our God is the God of the impossible.
“There’s hope to be found in the fact that problems can be solved,” Ben said. “Problems are solvable and also that God is truly the God of the impossible.”
Whenever there’s a situation that seems to be affecting your marriage, run to God and let Him heal both your hearts.
“In the context of marriage, if something hurts, it’s okay to go to God and say, ‘God, I need help right now and I need healing in my heart,’” Jodie added.
Ministers
“You can’t minister to somebody until you’ve dealt with this stuff in your own heart,’ Ben emphasized.
