A man’s search for the one true God led him to read Quran and other Hindu writings. But Jesus showed up one night!
Yoel’s Family
Yoel was born in Israel. His mother was Moroccan, and his dad was Scottish. Their family moved to England because of their mixed culture.
“And in England, that’s where my mom wanted us to really focus on what it meant to be Jewish. So, being Jewish for her meant loving the state of Israel. It meant celebrating the Sabbath from time to time, It was sort of like traditional Judaism,” Yoel said.

But his search for God deepened as he grew older.
“I began to question whether that traditional Judaism actually made sense. I want to find out about God, but I’ve decided that my mom wasn’t the sort of source of all wisdom and truth. So I decided to go off and find books for myself. Now, most people have asked me, “Okay, so why didn’t you just go straight to the Bible, to the “Tanach,” or the OT?””

Yoel had been exposed to alot of religion because of his mother, so he didn’t bother reading the Bible.
“So I went and got myself a copy of the Quran, and I got myself a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, which is part of Hindu writings. And I began to read through those two books,” Yoel shared.
“Now, I’m about 18 years old at this point, and I’ve been reading about these two books. And I still haven’t found who God is. I had this thought, and I was like, “What if God is real? I don’t need to read through all these books. Because if He’s real, He should be able to just, you know, show up,” he added.
Yoel Saw Jesus’ Face
“So, there in my room, I took the Quran. I put it down next to me, and I said, “God, if you’re real, show up.” Now, I was expecting nothing to happen at all. But at the end of my bed, a face appears. The face of Jesus.”
Yoel freaked out and couldn’t believe what had happened. Later, he blamed it on drugs.
“During that time, I was involved with substances. So I thought, it’s the drugs. It couldn’t possibly be real. I thought it was a hallucination.”
Shortly after, Yoel moved to Israel and went to a Hebrew school. There, he met his wife, Adele, who had a background in the New Age.
“As we were falling in love, we started talking about God as well,” Yoel said.
But one day, they decided to do something about their faith in God. They went to synagogues, practiced religion and tradition, and eventually Judaism. But they couldn’t find what they were looking for.
A Man’s Search for God
A friend of Adele named Judy asked, “Well, Adele, have you read the Tanakh yourselves?”
That was their cue to start reading the Old Testament. They challenged each other to finish reading the Bible first. And then, Yoel got to Isaiah 53.
“That chapter bothered me. So, I went off to Judy to get an explanation. Now, Judy is actually a Jewish believer of Jesus, but she never told me. “And she’s been praying that God would tell her when to tell us about Jesus. … It’s the sign she’s been waiting for,” Yoel shared.
Upon hearing the answer, he started battling with his inner thoughts and confusion. Then he prayed, “Okay, God. I’m so sick and tired of this. Just show me the truth.” And the moment I prayed that prayer, I had the same picture of the face of Jesus… as it had when I was 18 and I knew that. And I knew that I knew that Jesus is real.”
A Man’s Search for God Finally Answered
He went home to tell his wife.
After some time, he found her reading the New Testament, specifically the book of Matthew.
“She finished the book of Matthew, and she had tears in her eyes. And she looks up to me and says something that I’ll never forget. She said, “He was such a good man. So, why has no one told us this story before?””
From then on, the two started a journey with the One and True God. And that is Jesus.
“Jesus is actually real. And that actually makes a difference to everything,” Yoel concluded.
