A man who fell off a cruise ship credits God for his miraculous survival in the middle of an ocean infested with sea creatures for 20 hours.
Missing Passenger In Cruise Ship
Last year, James Michael Grimes and his family got on a cruise ship to celebrate Thanksgiving. It was a great day for the whole family when suddenly James’ sister discovered he was missing. Apparently, he fell off the Carnival Valor ship, and it took time before his family noticed he couldn’t be found anywhere.

In an interview with Good Morning America, James detailed the harrowing experience of floating in the middle of the ocean. Apparently, he had lost consciousness when he fell into the waters. He no longer remembers how it happened, but he knew a miracle from God kept him safe amidst the ocean.
”The next thing I remember is waking up in the water,” he recalled. “The boat was out of sight. I thought, ‘Wow, this is for real. I’m out here in the sea.’”
God’s Protection
Despite his fear of drowning, James tried his best to overcome the waters. And he spent 20 hours treading and swimming in the ocean infested with various sea creatures. He shared that he encountered “the stings of jellyfish” and a “shark.” But he believes that God was protecting him amidst the ordeal.

“I can’t float myself even when I’m trying to do so…,” he said. “The Lord was with me when I was out there..”
While struggling to survive amidst the ocean, James thought of his 9-year-old daughter, Annabeth. She became his motivation to keep on living no matter what happened.
Then finally, after 20 hours, the search and rescue team found James in the waters still alive. According to the report, if they had seen him later than that time, he would have probably died.
Later, James attested that his survival was a miracle.
“I’m still bruised up and sore, but it’s a miracle I survived,” he remarked. “It wasn’t my time to die. I’m grateful to see my family again.”
