A man devoted to Islam discovered the truth about Jesus Christ. The encounter led him to accept Christ.
Man Devoted To Islam
Although he lived in Detroit, Abdu Murray was raised and born in a Muslim home. He believed that, among other religions, Islam was the truth. This was reinforced all the more when some Christians whom he asked “why they’re Christian” only answered, “because it’s tradition.”
Later in college at the University of Michigan, Abdu met two guys who approached him at his apartment. These guys boldly shared Jesus with him. But Abdu took the chance to throw really hard questions to these Christians for hours.
Discovering Jesus
Eventually, Abdu and the two guys developed a friendship, and the Christians often came by his apartment. They often discussed Adbu’s questions about Christianity and shared Jesus with him. That led Abdu to research about Jesus himself because he wanted to win over the Christians to Islam.
One day, Abdu walked by a street where some people handed out free Gideon Bibles. He took it home and read the Bible “to find a fundamental contradiction.” Then he was able to read the Gospel of Luke, wherein John the Baptist was baptizing people. The words of John in the passage bothered Abdu, realizing that “your tradition is not what saves you; truth is what saves you.”
It blew Abdu’s mind to discover that John was agreeing with him, “saying tradition is not good enough.” At that point, it caught his attention. He then made up his mind to follow whatever was the truth because the Bible and the Quran don’t say the same things.
Abdu tried to study the Bible to know more about Jesus. And what he discovered later made him embrace Christianity.
