Christian author and speaker Lisa Bevere emphasized the importance for parents to safeguard their children from pornography, particularly in today’s world, where “we are constantly inundated with images.”
Lisa Bevere On Protecting Kids From Pornography
Most caring and attentive parents share a common desire for their children: to provide them with all the good things in life and ensure they grow up well. However, in an era where information is easily accessible with just a click, parents face significant challenges. The internet and media have considerable influence over what children are exposed to and taught.
One critical issue that parents must be vigilant about, as highlighted by Lisa Bevere, is pornography. While no parent wants their children to encounter it, at some point, they may unintentionally come across it.
“But unfortunately, we live in a day and a time where we are being constantly inundated with images,” she said. “Whether it’s coming from a commercial you didn’t expect. Maybe you’re watching a clean program and then all of a sudden, commercial. Maybe you’re out and there’s Victoria’s Secrets just out there and your boys are saying ‘what in the world is going on?’ Maybe it’s a magazine cover..”
It Is Not Art
Moreover, Lisa remarked that pornography shouldn’t be taken lightly. For one, because “it is not art” and “it is not beautiful.” She also warned that exposure to such content can distort children’s identities and may have an adverse impact on their sexuality.

Finally, drawing from her own experience as a mother of boys, Lisa offered empowering advice to fellow parents.
“I want you to create an environment where they can talk to you about it,” she said. “If somebody is showing them things that are making them feel uncomfortable or eliciting a response from them that they actually did not want to have. I want you to have these conversations with them. I need you to protect your house.”
