Leah Matthew emphasized that if people couldn’t hear God, they could open the Bible and read His words.
Leah Matthew
One of the preachers at Mosaic Dubai church, Leah Matthew, talked about hearing the voice of God. She answered this common question asked by many Christians, “How can I discern between my thoughts and the voice of the Holy Spirit?” She started by sharing a scripture from John 10:27, “My sheep hears my voice and I know them, and they follow me.”
Most people imagine that God only spoke to an elite group of individuals – those who were prophetically gifted. But then, she explained that if someone had already received Jesus as their personal Savior, then they could hear God. She mentioned, “Just as our physical body has got physical senses. When you’re born again or when you receive Jesus Christ, or you’re baptized in the spirit, you’ve got a spiritual body with spiritual senses.”

Hearing God
Furthermore, she stressed that the question wasn’t about activating the spiritual senses but about sharpening them. People just need to stir them up. And the best way to do it was to read the Word of God. This is why God’s Word is everything. Additionally, for those who are doubting whether they hear God or just their own thoughts, she reminded them that God’s voice is aligned with His Word.
Moreover, she highlighted, “Time spent with God can teach you the accent of God.” People were so caught up with the accents of the world, such as pain and anxiety. She encouraged the congregation to tune themselves to hear the voice of God.
Lastly, she emphasized, “If you can’t hear God, read Him. It’s simple. Read the voice of God. It’s in the scripture. It’s as plain as it can get.”
