The Kansas City Chiefs will be playing in Super Bowl after winning the AFC Championship on January 29. Injured star player Patrick Mahomes, who led the team to the victory, gives God the glory.

Team’s star quarterback Patrick played the whole Sunday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals while still recovering from an injury to his right ankle. Despite his injury, he successfully led the team to victory. It’s their third Super Bowl in four years! In a post-game interview, Patrick said that it was God who gave him the ability and strength throughout the game.
“I wanna thank God man, he healed my body this week and gave me the strength,” he said.

Though he looked fine most of the time, Patrick’s ability to play has been limited due to the residual injury. Despite being down three wide receivers, he has still found a way to throw 326 yards and two touchdowns. With just seconds to play, the game was tied at 20-20. Patrick then took off on a third-down play near midfield, leading his team barely within field goal range. That set up the game-winning kick for three points.

Patrick’s faith in God has always been a significant part of his life. In a previous interview, he detailed how his faith plays an important role in his athletic career.
“My faith has always been a big part of what I do… I’ve grown up in church and faith really helps you know why you’re playing the game, and who you’re doing it for,” he once told ESPN.
Clark Hunt, the Kansas City Chiefs owner, also praised God while accepting the Lamar Hunt AFC Championship trophy.
“The Lord has blessed our family in so many ways, including with the best fan base…” Clark said.
