You Don’t Have to Fight Your Battle Alone – Joyce Meyer Ministries
Inspiring Christian speaker and New York Times bestselling author Joyce Meyer is sharing God’s battle plan with everyone struggling with life’s challenges via a new Bible study video on her Youtube ministry channel. That’s right – according to Joyce, you don’t have to face daily struggles on your own. God has prepared us with spiritual weapons more powerful than physical weapons to triumph over all life’s hurdles.
In the first part of a two-part series, Joyce passionately and humorously reveals five keys of God’s battle plan.
Step 1: Recognize that You Don’t Need To Fight This Battle
Joyce points out that we often incorrectly assume that we need to fight all of our battles. In 2 Chronicles 20:17, Judah and Jerusalem are instructed to wait on the Lord’s deliverance in their upcoming battle:

“You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.”
What a clear and direct message! Yet, this is not a free pass to sit back and wait for something to happen. Step up to the battle line, knowing that God will show you what to do.
Step 2: Overcome Fear
According to Joyce, we can’t avoid our problems – through alcohol, sleep, sex, drugs, or any number of other tactics. We must face our fears head on. She humorously asserts, “God has not given us armor for our backside because he didn’t expect us to run away!”
As we confront our fears, we must trust that God will be with us. Joyce recounts a time when she had an aggressive form of breast cancer and had recurrent waves of fear. She continued to seek God during these times, and one night she heard God’s intention: “I will take care of you.” This intention remains the same for all of His children.
Step 3: Humble Yourself
Part of the divine battle plan is to admit that you need help. Humble yourself before the Lord, acknowledging that your own strength is not enough. Joyce’s pithy summary is worth repeating: “Works of the flesh are works that don’t work.”
Admit that you need God’s transformative power in your own life and it will rush in. It’s as simple as repeating, “I need you. I’m in trouble.” According to Joyce, it is only the humble who get the help.
Step 4: Seek God
Once you admit that you need God, you must seek Him wholeheartedly. According to Joyce, “You can’t hear from God if you don’t have time to seek Him.” If your life is too busy, there is no room for God.
Another common pitfall is to seek the advice of others before God. But Joyce points out that one word from god is worth 10,000 from people. So she advises Christians to seek the throne before the phone.
When you seek God in times of need – simply by grabbing a Bible and finding a quiet place – you will instinctively know what to do. He will meet you where you are.
Step 5: Worship While You Wait
Don’t become discouraged if you can’t discern God’s intention right away. Wait on God’s timing. But as you do so, worship. In an answer to your prayers, God will reveal His will at the right time. Heed the example of the Israelites, who in the midst of a looming battle, told God, “We don’t know what to do but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12).
