Jonathan Brozozog gave helpful advice to Christian parents, reminding them not to discipline their children, especially when they are angry.

The author of “Raising Parents: Set Your Kids Up for Future Success,” Jonathan Brozozog, provided helpful and practical advice to Christian parents. He discussed the importance of disciplining children, emphasizing, “When you discipline, never discipline angry.” Brozozog highlighted the significance of praying before disciplining to avoid acting out of anger.
For instance, when disciplining his kids, he would seek God’s forgiveness for not teaching his children properly, especially when they misbehaved. He would then ask for divine guidance to become a better father, helping his children become better individuals. By praying to God beforehand, Brozozog explained that parents could avoid disciplining in anger.

Discipline
Furthermore, he also shared other important insights that he learned. When he disciplined his children, he kept them close to him. “I would never discipline a child and send them to their room because then they’re dealing with a lot of emotions, and they don’t know how to live that out,” he highlighted.
Just because kids need to go through the process of discipline doesn’t mean parents need to separate from them.
Moreover, he mentioned that discipline doesn’t require parents to distance themselves. He aimed to maintain closeness to his kids even during challenging times.
“When God disciplines us, He doesn’t want to send us away. When God disciplines, He wants to bring us closer. And so I think that’s one of the things that we can model to our children is discipline brings us closer, not separate,” he said.
Lastly, he reminded parents that discipline is all about transforming the hearts of their children.
“However you discipline, what you’re after is the heart shift. And if how your discipline is not creating the heart shift, you may want to change how you’re disciplining,” he said.
