Jodi Benson, known for her voice as Ariel in the Little Mermaid, will play the character of Nia Igiby in “The Wingfeather Saga”. It is a Christian animated series, based on the bestselling book of the same title by Andrew Peterson.
Jodi Benson
The little mermaid actress and singer feels elated to be part of the production. “I’m so thankful, so honored that the team made the selection for me to be part of this project,” she said. “It’s wonderful to do an incredible story with an incredible character but also to add the element of a faith-based company. It’s been a perfect blend for me.”
Jodi grew up in a religious household but only experienced a personal relationship with Christ since being married. Her husband Rey Benson, showed her what it looks like to have a true relationship with the Savior.

“It just was so wonderful to know.” She continued, “I had been called, and I had been feeling that pull. But then coming to the fruition of this is what it looks like. And to be able to go forward in my career and know that God is in charge of that and directing me every step of the way and making sure that every project that I’m a part of is exactly where He wants me to be.”
And now, Jodi is exactly where God placed her in the faith-based children’s animation.
The Wingfeather Saga
The Wingfeather Saga released its first episode last December 2 on the Angels Studios app, the same studio that produced the hit series, The Chosen. And just like The Chosen, “The Wingfeather Saga” is also the top crowdfunded animated series in history.
Experts from the studios of Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, and Blue Sky, have worked together to create the Wingfeather. The series portrays the “hand-painted” CGI animation rendering technique.
It tells the story of the three Igiby siblings in a fantastical adventure with underlying themes of redemption and Christian-family values.
