Matt Savan recently shared a mind-blowing fact about Jesus’ words to God: “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”
Jesus’ Words
Matt Savan, a songwriter and gospel musician, shared a video about a mind-blowing discovery. It was Jesus’ words when He was crucified on the cross.
“I’m going to blow your mind with the truth about Jesus. Do you know why Jesus said, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” when he was dying on the cross? It is a Psalm of David written a thousand years before Jesus that the Jewish people would sing at gatherings. They all knew the words to this Psalm,” Matt said.

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?” (Psalm 22:1, NIV).
The Psalm
Matt further explained how the next part of the psalm completely described what happened to Jesus.
“Think about it: why did Jesus quote this Psalm? It literally prophesies a form of execution that didn’t even exist when it was written. And when you hear the words of this prophecy, you are lying to yourself if you don’t think that this describes Jesus on the cross perfectly,” Matt claimed.

This is what Psalm 22:16–18 (NIV) says: “Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.”
And this was exactly what happened to Jesus, written by David years before Jesus was even born.
Jesus’ Words At The Cross
Matt added another detail from the Psalm,”You know what they said about Jesus when he was on the cross? They’re like, “Oh, look. He claimed to know more about God than us. Okay. Well, then let him come down from this cross.” They were mocking Him. That’s what this [psalm] says!
“Jesus knew exactly what he was doing when he said this. He cried this out to a Jewish audience, and He’s basically saying, “Finish the Psalm!” he concluded.
