Find hope in the Bible and it will give you the strength, hope and wisdom to navigate through any circumstance you are facing today.
I remember looking at the doctor as he gave me the news that I had cancer. It’s a word that carries so much fear. I could see on his face that he hated giving this type of news to anyone.
When you have no hope
Hopelessness threatened to overwhelm me as I asked him what my options were. He gave me the details of the treatment plan he recommended. It involved an operation and then ongoing treatment to ensure that whatever they found could be eradicated. It looked like this would be a long road to recovery for me and my family.
God can give you strength
As the news sunk in I remember looking at him and sayings something like this. “It’s going to be OK because I am a Christian and I trust God”. It was as if God was giving me the strength He talks about in Isa 40:31 and I felt a surge of hope flood through me.
Somehow I knew that no matter what the outcome, God would be with me on the journey and give me the strength I would need.
You can live hopeful
Each day of the 8 weeks of my treatment I grew more physically weak as the radiotherapy took its toll on my body. But each day I would reach out to God for the strength to see me through.
Now, 10 years later, I’m happy to report that I am still cancer-free. That period of my life taught me how to find hope and strength in the Bible for my everyday life. Thank You God.
