A woman from Iran suffered in an abusive marriage for 14 years. Then God rescued her.
A Lonely Teenager
Lily was 18 years old when she began feeling depressed and lonely. She couldn’t be with her parents then because her mom lived in Iran, and her dad was in the United States on business. The teenager hoped her family would live together again. But that didn’t happen.

One day, Lily received a call from her dad, who told her about his business partner, who was interested in her. He asked her if she would consider this man for marriage. She was open, but she did not know the man was 14 years older than her.
Abusive Marriage
Later, when Lily moved to the United States, she met the man and realized he was controlling, aggressive, violent, and abusive. Despite that, she married him.
At the lowest point of Lily’s life, she prayed and pleaded with God. She told Him, “God, can You give me a do-over? This is not a good start of my life. It’s just not going well.”
Then, one day, her mom called and invited her to their home. Apparently, her mom had friends coming over who wanted to meet her. And when she arrived home, she suddenly sensed “a feeling of love and joy.” They were watching a Jesus filmand she joined them.
Soon after she was about to go home, one of her mom’s friends approached her. She told Lily, “did you know when you come to Christ, all things become new? All your past is going to be gone. And you will have a fresh start with Jesus.”
At that point, Lily knew God had heard her cry.
