A father and son reunited after 26 long years because of a woman who dialed the wrong number while looking for someone else—“God-sent.”
Dialing A Wrong Number
Evelyn Trant’s husband died in June 1999. For that reason, she wanted to reach out to her husband’s longtime friends to inform them of his sudden death. But the problem was they had no contact information for Ronnie and Johnny Godsey. Hence, her daughter-in-law, Karen, helped and tried contacting the operator.
Karen asked for Ronnie and Johnny Godsey’s contact numbers. But unfortunately, none of their names were listed. So, she asked for somebody related to each other instead, out of the millions of Godseys on the list. The operator then randomly gave her David Godsey and Eric Godsey’s contact information.
Father Looking For His Son For 26 Years
Soon after, Karen called David Godsey first and asked if she knew Ronnie or Johnny Godsey. But he didn’t know them at all. Later in their conversation, David suggested looking for them on the internet just like he did. Apparently, he had also been looking for someone for 26 years already—his son. David lost track of his 2-year-old son, David, when he divorced.
After Karen’s conversation with David, he dialed the other number, Eric Godsey. Soon, he conversed with a man on the phone who told her he didn’t know his family. And that he had never known and seen his father since he was two years old.
Father And Son Reunited
Hearing the story from the man on the other side of the phone gave Karen chills. She had a hunch that the guy was David’s long-lost son. Especially when he shared how he also searched for his dad for a long time as a teen. And he only stopped looking for him after he saw the name David Godsey in the newspaper’s list of victims that died during a plane crash in Washington at the time.
Karen felt in her heart it was indeed the father and son. So, she urged him to call David Godsey and gave him the contact number. The two soon found out that they were the long-lost father and son. They reunited because of the wrong number miracle.
“It’s just a miracle that we were brought together,” David said.
“To me it is a miracle because you couldn’t do it on purpose,” Karen said. “We couldn’t have made the connection. It had to have a Bigger Hand.”
“Karen was God-sent,” David concluded.
