With all the unexpected and challenging happenings affecting the world today, a former drug-addicted man who wanted to encourage and spread hope is making a difference on the streets of Tuscaloosa in Alabama.
‘God Loves You’ Sign By A Former Drug-Addict
Unafraid of people’s different responses, Jeff McDowell goes out of his way at the corner of 15th Street and McFarland Boulevard to spread hope. In the news reported by ‘Uplifting Stories,’ he stands beside the street while holding up a sign with words written: “God loves you.”

In an interview, Jeff shared that he does his mission three times a week because he is concerned for the people. And this is because of the unlikely circumstances he observed happening in the world today. Like the gas price inflation and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, creating an economic domino effect worldwide.

“Every time I come out here and hold that sign is to give people of Tuscaloosa,” he explained. “Or maybe somebody passing through, give them some hope and some encouragement. Because like you said with gas prices and the chaos going on with the world, it’s already written in scripture what it’s going to be like.”

Giving Hope
As a result, Jeff stressed that every person needs hope and encouragement right now. And he believes that the message he holds each day, reminding every passerby of God’s love, would make a difference.
Further, the advocate of hope believes that what he’s doing is not an accident. Because the world really needed to hear God’s message with the ongoing global chaos.
Jeff was formerly a drug addict for 30 years until God saved him. That’s why now, he wanted to be a beacon of hope to others as well, especially in his town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
He revealed that he received different responses to his initiative to give hope. “Some unpleasant responses,” he said. Nonetheless, the majority appreciated his act of kindness.
