Growing Up A Christian But A Stranger With The Holy Spirit
Colton Elsasser from the United States, now living in Sydney, Australia, shared his powerful testimony with Deliverance Down Under. It’s a powerful encounter where Jesus appeared before him.

The story begins with Colton growing up in a Christian home. Even at a young age, he had a relationship with Christ and grew up being involved in church and youth group. Colton also did a couple of mission trips as teenager. He loved God growing up, but the Holy Spirit was a stranger to him.
Turning Back On God & Becoming A Drug Addict
Colton was on fire for God as a teen and passionate about sharing the Gospel with others. He began sharing it with his friends and started experiencing persecution. They no longer wanted to hang out with him. They picked on him and began calling him names like “Jesus Cody.”
Then one day, two of Colton’s friends invited him to smoke weed after class. At that point, he was faced with the dilemma of choosing.
“I had to make a choice if I was going to stand strong in God and in righteousness, or if I was just gonna go with the flow and go back into friendship,” he recounted.
Then he told God, “God, I followed You up until this point. But now I’m gonna go my own way.”
Jesus Appears
That’s when life began to fall apart for Colton. He walked away from God, left the church, and became addicted to drugs. The teen chased popularity and material things. It went on for many years, and he just kept going deeper into drugs.
The cycle continued until Jesus appeared before Colton face to face amidst all the chaos and uttered words that forever changed his life.
“Come home,” Jesus told Colton.
