Demetria Devonne Lovato (popularly known as Demi Lovato) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress from Los Angeles, California. The pop artist was raised as a Christian with Jewish ancestors, making her connection with Israel very strong.
Visit to Israel

Recently, Demi paid a visit to Israel and celebrated it by being baptized in River Jordan, the same river where Jesus was baptized. The award-winning artist posted on her Instagram about the memorable event.
“I am an American singer. I was raised Christian and have Jewish ancestors. When I was offered an amazing opportunity to visit the places I’d read about in the Bible growing up, I said yes,” Demi wrote in an Instagram post.
In July, Demi celebrated a year of sobriety after a nearly fatal drug overdose. Being baptized in the Jordan River gave Demi a feeling of renewal and a sense of spiritual connection to God.
There is something absolutely magical about Israel. I’ve never felt such a sense of spirituality or connection to God…something I’ve been missing for a few years now. Spirituality is so important to me…to be baptized in the Jordan River – the same place Jesus was baptized – I’ve never felt more renewed in my life,” she added.
“God-sized hole” in her heart
During her visit to Israel, she also visited the Western Wall, Yad Vashem, and the holocaust memorial. God also filled her “God-sized hole” in her heart during this memorable trip.
“This trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart, and my soul,” she said. “I’m grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart. Thank you for having me, Israel.”
