Dawncheré Wilkerson: ‘Don’t Receive Counsel From Anyone Who Isn’t Using The Bible’

Pastor Dawncheré Wilkerson advised married couples not to seek counsel from anyone who isn’t using the Bible as a framework.

VOUS Church Pastors Dawncheré and Rich Wilkerson gave biblical advice to married couples in their “Before You Call It Quits” episode. Dawncheré boldly remarked not to seek out therapists who aren’t using the Word of God as their framework. She warned about some therapists who often give out worldly advice that can exacerbate wounds in struggling marriages.

“If you’re following Jesus, you shouldn’t be receiving counsel from anyone who isn’t using the Bible as the framework for your therapy and counsel,” she said.

Unbiblical Advice From Some Therapists

Dawncheré then shared that at one point, they met a couple who told them a story that shook her and her husband. Apparently, their therapist gave them unbiblical advice after they discussed the issues they were facing in their marriage.

“And their therapist looks back at them and says, ‘Well, have you considered an open relationship?’” the pastor narrated. “Have you considered redefining the boundaries of your marriage?”

Thus, Dawncheré remarked, “Let me tell you, that is not helping your marriage. That is destroying your marriage.”

Furthermore, she reminded Christians not to readily accept counsel from the world. Instead, she said, “Find somebody who preaches the Word of God to you. I don’t need advice, I need truth.”

Today, the generation is living in a time where information is very accessible. With that, it’s also easier to search for answers to one’s queries. The Internet is just one click away when an individual wants to look for something to buy, advice, or to connect with others from different places. As a result, a person can easily seek counsel from anyone online.

But Pastor Dawncheré’s message is a reminder for every Christian to always depend on the Bible for wisdom and advice. More than anything, God’s Word is the Supreme Authority in this world. It is the only truth that brings good and godly results.
