David Diga Hernandez shared the Bible verse that set him free from a religious mindset.
Religious mindset
A religious mindset is a Christian’s belief that good deeds can save oneself, discrediting the power of Jesus Christ. It is also believing that being good can make one holy. It is an overlooked sin because of its tricky appearance of goodness. But, Jesus clearly abhorred it.
So, David presented a Bible verse that helps fellow believers break free from religious thinking. It also made him want to live holy.
He said, “This one bible verse transformed my mind, and I almost missed the truth it reveals. Once I saw this revelation, my mind was changed. It changed the way I see sin, holiness, and my own mistakes. And this increased my desire to live holy and helped me to overcome shame.”
The bible verse is Galatians 5:17. It says, “And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite of what the sinful nature desires.”
How can this short passage help a Christian live holy?
David explained, “Now this seems simple. So why is this so mind-transforming? Well, it reveals that the Holy Spirit is the one who helps us fight sin.”
Many think that the Holy Spirit flees when they commit a sin or wrongdoing. But that is not what the Bible states, according to David.
He shared, “I used to think that the Holy Spirit came closer when I did well, but then distanced Himself when I made mistakes. This led to condemnation, which made it harder to get back on track. Now, yes, sin has consequences, and no, we shouldn’t continue in sin. But the truth is that even when we make mistakes, the Holy Spirit abides. He doesn’t abandon you. He stays with you to help you fight against sin and become holy.”
“So, get up and try again.”
David’s message encourages Christians to rely on the Holy Spirit even in the face of sins.
