Nate Bagartze recently celebrated his 20th year as a clean Christian comedian. He also recently released his new Amazon Prime Video special “Hello World” last month. This is after the success of his two Netflix specials “The Tennessee Kid” and “The Great Average American,” which was Grammy Award-nominated in 2021.
Clean comedy is a family-friendly genre that tells stories through comedy that is free from swearing, crude material, and sexual content. In an interview with Fox News, Nate explained why he kept this genre for years, it is mainly because of his parents and his faith in God.
“I think I still feel I will get in trouble,” he said while explaining that he couldn’t tell dirty jokes in front of his parents. “I’ll get in trouble and I will disappoint them. I don’t want to disappoint my parents.”

Clean Comedy
The 43-year-old comedian was raised in a Christian family in Nashville. He remembered growing up, his parents monitored the content that he watched. And his faith and values still remained in him today.
“It’s how I grew up,” he said. “I grew up that way. I come from a Christian family and am Southern Christian, so I wasn’t allowed to watch anything, which I talk about in the special. And so growing up and only watching clean comedians, it was just how I was going to be. And it would feel forced if I was not.”
“Hello World”
“Hello World” has been more about his personal life. In one segment of the film, Nate joked about his strict upbringing. He even shared how he instantly left a sleepover because his friends wanted to watch an R-rated movie.
“My parents became Christian before they had me,”he said. “So when I grew up, it was going to church as much as you could go.”
In a world full of explicit entertainment materials, it is such a relief to see artists break the norm and continue a clean form of entertainment. May the entertainment industry be saturated by Christian artists who would change the way this industry show themselves to everyone. May every artist use their God-given talents to glorify the Lord with what they do.
