An ex-gang member explained how Christianity differed from all other religions.

Johnny Chang emerged from a violent background. Raised by an abusive father, he engaged in gang activities, committed assaults and robberies, and sold drugs. Despite his tumultuous past, he discovered that no one is beyond redemption with God.
Through Jesus’ relentless pursuit of His lost sheep, Johnny was transformed by God’s unconditional love. Today, he shares his redemption story on secular platforms, aiming to inspire belief in Jesus among all who hear it.
He engages in dialogues with individuals holding different beliefs to guide them toward opening their hearts to Jesus. During one interview, he confidently expressed that Jesus is the sole way to salvation.
Christianity differed from other
Johnny first referenced the Bible, where Jesus stated that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, in John 14:6.
He said, “When you say the way, it means the only way. So, it’s not a disrespect on other religions. But for the most part, like when I was in prison, I studied a lot on Buddhism. I studied a lot on Islam, too. And all religions, if you actually think about it, it all teaches you to do well. You know, what religion teaches you just murder people, right? It doesn’t do that, right?”
Johnny explained that while other religions teach how to do better, Christianity is the only faith that emphasizes that people can only do well because of Jesus.
He continued, “But Christianity, for me, was the only religion that taught me that I can’t do it by myself. That I needed an External Source to help me. Because that depression and that loneliness, that emptiness, I couldn’t bring myself out of that. And for me, God through Jesus, when He died on the cross, He washed all of our sins perfectly, past, present, future.”
