Megan Fate shared how she found hope amid grief. She lost her husband in 2021, and since then, God has been revealing a different, yet deeper, kind of faith that can only be found in being intimate with Him.
Believing There’s Hope Amid Grief
Having lost her husband unexpectedly, Megan learned how to trust God even more. She realized the level of her faith when all she could lean on was God.
“There’s something I want to say that I don’t think would actually be helpful for people. But I would say to you all [that] I’m pretty convinced when tragedy strikes, that is when our faith is revealed,” she said.
She said that when tragedy strikes our faith in a God, our Provider, will be tested.
Megan explained further, “We don’t even understand the motive of our faith. And oftentimes, that’s revealed when tragedy strikes. Because you realize, ‘Oh man, I had faith in a God not who I trusted as good. I had faith in a God who would make my life easier and better.’”
Finding Hope Amid Grief
Additionally, she emphasized the fact that faith is oftentimes abandoned when tragedy befalls. But even when she realized the depth of her faith, that it was just on a surface level, she knew God was there, too. In every step, even in grief, God was there.

“That’s what I found in my grief. When I’m willing to open my heart to what’s actually in there, whether it be anger or grief, specifically at the loss of Randy, God’s heart is there too,” she said.
How Long?
Megan hoped for that willingness to shout out crazy things to God: “How long? How long will it feel like this, how long will it feel impossible? How long can I shout with whatever is actually inside my heart toward God?”
And because she has faith that what she’s going through won’t last forever, God is okay with her questions. Megan also shared that the way to trust is the way of honesty. Even if it means admitting to God that you don’t see His goodness, and you’re angry and still grieving.
“There’s so much anger in me, and so much sadness, and so much grief that I don’t even have words to pray,” she said. “All I have is guttural sounds coming out and yelling. That’s what I had but that was honest. So in that moment, that looked more like trust than me pretending to be somewhere else. The way of trust, indeed, is the way of honesty.”
