Brady Shearer, in his insightful post, shared rules he won’t ignore as a Christian leader, offering profound wisdom that might be helpful to other Christian leaders as well. Being a Christian leader is challenging as it requires specific abilities to thrive. With that in mind, Brady Shearer suggested five tips to help believers grow in their leadership.
1. Be Unoffendable
Quoting Proverbs 19:11, Brady advocates for surrendering the right to be offended. He wrote, “The cross offers a reminder of Jesus’ willingness to pay the bill and an indictment on us when we are unwilling to do the same for others.”
2. We are all people in process [1 Corinthians 13:12].
Brady encouraged believers to be gentle and patient with themselves and to be “charitable with others.” He suggested having self-compassion and empathy towards others. He also emphasized the importance of recognizing one’s limitations and extending grace to those around you.
3. Freedom is the opportunity to exercise restraint.
Referencing Matthew 7:14, Brady highlighted the paradoxical nature of freedom as the opportunity to practice restraint. He wrote, “Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life – there are few who find it.”
4. The compounding power of consistency.
Brady stressed the compounding power of consistency, drawing from Galatians 6:9. This verse emphasizes the power of perseverance and steadfastness.
“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years,” he added.
5. There will come a time when life demands something greater.
In alignment with Luke 12:48, Brady aptly noted that life often presents moments demanding courage and resilience. Quoting from “The Hobbit,” he underscored the necessity of embracing challenges head-on, moving forward with unwavering determination and readiness to confront the unknown.
In summary, Brady Shearer’s rules for Christian leaders encapsulate a holistic approach to leadership. He emphasized grace, resilience, and steadfast commitment to personal and spiritual growth. May Christian leaders find his insights helpful in various ways.
