3 Prayer Priorities For America

I believe America is in great need of prayer at this time. Right now, determine to be faithful to pray for our nation on this Independence Day.

Please share these requests with pastors, church leaders, intercessors in churches, ministries, and denominations. Additionally, share them with anyone who loves America.

People are hurting in the USA. Let’s pray for divine intervention in the present governmental crisis in America. Are you ready to go to God in prayer?

Prioritize these requests:

1. Ask God to lead our president and members of both houses of Congress to find a way to work together.

“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

  • Sovereign God, please guide the heart of the president and members of both houses of Congress to come together to find a common resolution for the border crisis and funding of the US Government.
  • Holy Spirit, would You build within the president and members of Congress a spirit of humility, respect for one another, a spirit of understanding, and a determination to cooperate for the common good of the country.
  • May each person seek the peace and prosperity of America, knowing when they do, each of them prospers.
  • God our Provider, please take care of the many Government workers and their families including those who face financial setbacks through Government shutdowns.

2. Call out to God for families, workplaces, communities, and cities in America to love one another.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” (1 John 4:7)

  • When we belong to Jesus, we belong to love; therefore, call upon God for families, workplaces, communities, and cities in America to know that love is always God’s way.
  • Call families, workplaces, communities, and cities to look to God, who is love, so they can experience the transforming power of love.
  • Ask God for America’s families, workplaces, communities, and cities to begin to choose love and forgiveness, love and restitution, love and healing, love and unity, and a future transformed by the power of unconditional love.
  • Ask God to raise up a Love One Another movement across America.

3. Appeal to God to mobilize leaders of towns and cities, as well as leaders of churches, businesses, schools, and denominations to have a regular prayer observance for America.

“Love one another. Just as I have loved you,” (John 13:34)

  • Lord, we call upon You to mobilize leaders of towns and cities, as well as leaders of churches, businesses, schools, and denominations to have a regular prayer observance. 
  • Oh God, we ask You to create and build a mighty force of volunteers across the country to do all they can to insure we have thousands of prayer observances across America in all kinds of settings.
  • Lord Jesus Christ, raise up hundreds of people who will support the National Day of Prayer Task Force as they lead this national prayer movement to pray for America. P

3 Components In My Daily Time With God

I believe one of the most essential parts of Christian discipleship is teaching people how to have a scheduled time with God daily. When my sons were elementary age boys, I taught them these things.

If we can teach our son to throw a football or our daughter gymnastics, we can teach our children how to have a daily time with God. If we can teach our friends how to close a business deal or how to decorate a home, we can teach our friends how to walk with Christ daily.

I will stay brief today even though there is so much more to share.

Component 1: Practice Prayer

Prayer is a conversation with God. Prayer is not just you talking to God, but it involves you listening to God. Daily, I begin my time with God in prayer. Practice prayer.

Whether you are a rookie or a seasoned veteran in your spiritual life, prayer is one of the great disciplines in the life of the believer. Develop your prayer life. Learn how to pray.

While I am no authority on prayer, I do pray and believe in the power of prayer. Prayer built upon the Scriptures takes it to another level.

Take the time to organize your prayer life. When you do, you will find your prayer life becoming much more meaningful and perhaps even extended.

Interweaving with prayer is the second component in my daily time with God…

Component 2: Read the Bible

The most transforming discipline in my walk with Christ is the daily reading of the Bible. Nothing is more powerful than the Holy Scriptures. When the Scriptures speak, our God is speaking to us.

From my youngest years, I was taught the value of the Bible and its impact upon my life. Read the Bible daily.

The increasing impact of the Scriptures happened to me when I began to read the Bible through each year and since 1990, I have read the Bible through at least one time annually. In this last decade or so, it may be closer to one and one-half times per year.

The point is this: The more I read the Scriptures, the more I want to read the Scriptures. Faith is built upon the Word of God, not upon the words of others. In this noisy world filled with voices that amplify negativity and forecast constant doom, I must have the Bible, God’s Word, consume me daily.

It is the Bible that anchors my faith. It is the Bible that sustains and ignites my prayer life. It is the Bible, the Word of the Living God, that serves as my filter to separate all untruth from my life.

Component 3: Keep a Journal

In 1990, God led me to not just read through the entire Bible, but to daily begin one of the most meaningful practices I have done in my walk with Christ. When I have completed my daily prayer and Scripture reading time, I close my time with God by writing no less than a one-page prayer to God.

This prayer to God that is written down in a journal daily often becomes a documentation of God working in my life. I have volumes and volumes of these prayer journal books that go back to this daily discipline that I began in 1990. Still to this day, I do this. The only change is that on most days, the letters exceed a page or two.

There is something powerful about transferring your greatest burdens and most special moments with God on to the pages of a journal.

Back to the Basics

How is your daily time with God going? Maybe today is a reminder that it is time to go back to the basics of walking with Christ daily.

3 Ways To Sharpen Your Leadership Influence

Someone once told me, “The sharper the ax, the bigger the blow!” Therefore, sharpening our leadership can increase the influence we have in the lives of other people.

Each of us can grow in our leadership. Some would say that you have it or you don’t. I disagree. Each person has the capacity to be a leader and to grow in their leadership influence.

A Major Mistake

One of the major mistakes a leader can make is overestimating their influence. If all a leader listens to and communicates with are the people who think like them and personally connect with them, they are greatly limiting their leadership. Oftentimes, social media amplifies this problem.

Here is what I have found in my life and leadership. The more expansive my leadership role is in life, the more it demands from me to interact and relate to people who are not like me. This motivates me to become a better leader.

In other words, it sharpens my leadership.

3 Ways to Sharpen Leadership Influence

1. Determine to make the biggest difference you can make in your life.

This may or may not have anything to do with a position you hold in leadership. Quite honestly, many positionally-based leaders forfeit their leadership influence on the altar of self-worship. They are more impressed with the leadership position they hold than using this entrustment as a stewardship given to them by God.

Sharpening your leadership influence begins when you determine to make the biggest difference you can make with the leadership you have been given in your life. Regardless of your leadership position, seize where you are and the opportunities extended to you. Every great leader makes the most of wherever they are at the time.

2. Expand your leadership influence across generational lines.

I am convinced that many people limit their leadership because they are more focused on doing what comes natural to them: Relating and leading people in their own generation. This usually requires little to no stretch or change on their part.

Leadership influence demands more than this from you. In what way?

Learn to lead cross-generationally. Leading cross-generationally occurs when you are able to lead people in your own generation, the generation that came before you, and the generation that comes behind you. This is cross-generational leadership.

We all need to lead cross-generationally. When you only influence your own generation, you are limiting your leadership influence and quite honestly, your longevity in leadership.

3. Follow the Biblical model for leadership influence.

Jesus, Abraham, David, Moses, Paul, and Nehemiah each provide a biblical model for leadership influence. Think about each of them.

  • They led spiritually
  • They led purposefully
  • They led cross-generationally
  • They led past their lifetimes and still do today

Sharpening your leadership influence is up to you.

You have one shot in your life and leadership; therefore, make it count wherever you are.

Your Spiritual Life Determines The Rest Of Your Life

The growth of our spiritual lives will never outpace our intentional commitment to prioritize it every day. Our spiritual development impacts every other area of our lives—and we cannot delegate that growth to anyone else.

During my college years, over Christmas break, my brother asked me to build a barn for him. He is a much more gifted carpenter than I, but he was trying to help me out. I needed the money. But building barns was neither my passion nor within my skill set.

I accomplished the task, but in a few years the barn began to lean and eventually became unsafe. My brother would have been better off building the barn himself than delegating something to me I could not properly do.

Just as my brother should not have expected me to build a barn, you and I cannot expect someone else to build our spiritual lives for us. No one else can construct our daily walk with God. It has to be intentional, purposeful, and personal. Each one of us is accountable to do it ourselves.

The wisest decision we can make each day is this: I will walk with God today. What the Bible says about Enoch has always challenged me. This statement is simple yet profound: “Enoch walked with God.” (Genesis 5:24). Could God write this about your life and mine today? If not, why not? What stands in our way? Who is standing in our way?

In reality, no one and no thing stands in our way. The decision is ours. Remember these truths:

  1. God wants to walk with us! Getting our lives in order spiritually and practically begins with the decision to make it our number-one priority.
  2. God wants to have a meaningful relationship with us daily. He never puts us on hold, and we never have to stand in line.
  3. He does not delegate our spiritual growth to one of the angels who serves Him. He is always waiting on each of us to come to Him.
  4. Bringing our lives into spiritual order requires a strategy.

Let me highlight a few ways to be intentional in our commitment to prioritize our spiritual lives:

Reading the Bible Daily

The Bible is God’s Word. It’s what God says to you and me, and to all people. Thus, we need to read the Bible every day.

When the Bible speaks, God speaks. His voice through His Word cannot be minimized. But we can maximize its impact in our lives if we truly understand that what He says lives forever—and put His Word into practice! Through the years, I have witnessed thousands of Christians who live out their faith. Almost without exception, those who read the Bible daily are set apart from the others.

Former trucking magnate J.B. Hunt told me that the Bible was his road map for life. It showed him how to live the way he wanted to live—for God. Hunt drove trucks all over America even before he and his wife Johnelle began their Fortune 500 transportation company (one of the largest in the country). While he lived on the road, the map of our country became important to him. It led him to his desired destination.

But Hunt began his day reading the Bible. It would take him at least 18 months to read through the Bible once, but he read through the entire Bible several times in his life. It was his road map leading him to his desired spiritual growth. If an extraordinarily busy and wealthy man like J.B. Hunt knew he needed to read the Bible and make it a priority each day of his life, surely his example can inspire us to do the same.

This imperative daily discipline helps us become spiritually fit. We cannot be all God wants us to be if we do not read the Bible. It is impossible.

Praying Our Life into Order

Think of it this way: We can go to God anytime, anywhere, about anything. Through Jesus Christ, we have direct access to God.

Since we can go to God anytime, anywhere, and about anything that’s going on in our lives, why not choose to talk to God daily—and often? Create your own system of prayer or adopt someone else’s. If nothing else, make a list of things you are concerned about in your own life, your family, your church, your career and business, your future, your finances, your country, and concerns you have for other people. Pray for them each day and look for God to walk into those situations personally and powerfully. God answers prayer! God steps into the life of the person who prays. He can do more in a moment than you can in a lifetime. Each of us needs divine intervention.

Living an orderly life requires praying our lives into order. This is why I keep my prayer list in the Notes app on my iPad. My list changes continually as I watch God respond to my prayers. And I can easily change my list because of the technology’s simplicity. Find what works best for you, and just do it!

Praying with Fasting

Consider adding periodic times of fasting to your prayer life. Fasting is abstaining from something with a spiritual goal in mind. When we talk about fasting, most people think of fasting from food. Not everyone is physically able to fast from food, but that is not an excuse to refrain from fasting. We can fast (or abstain) from social media, television, or something else with the goal of drawing aside and talking more intimately with God. We can fast for a portion of a day for a certain number of days. Or we can fast completely for a period of time. Fasts typically last one, seven, 21, or 40 days.

However you choose to fast, use the time you would have spent during that particular activity (meals, social media, etc.) to communicate with God.

Use this time of fasting to pray extraordinarily. What does that mean? Whatever is normal for you, strive to at least double it. If you normally pray for five minutes a day, pray for ten. If you normally pray for 30 minutes a day, pray for an hour a day. The number of minutes is not important—just pray more. Pray extraordinarily.

Spend time talking to God and listening to Him. Effective communication involves speaking and listening. Prayer is no different. It involves talking to God and listening to what He is saying to you. If we only talk and do not listen, we are missing half of the equation. Let God do something new in your life by listening to Him.

Disciplining Ourselves

Discipline is doing the right thing even if you do not want to do it or feel like doing it. I am convinced that many Christ followers choose a lesser quality of spiritual growth because they take the path of least resistance. I am not talking about resistance against the evil one. I am talking about resisting our greatest enemy—ourselves!

Regardless of the way we feel or what we desire, we can choose to be intentional about our spiritual growth. Many people hear words like discipline and intentional and think we’re talking about salvation by works. Of course, salvation by works is unbiblical, but that’s not what I mean here. Salvation is by grace through faith. But, in the Bible, faith is always connected to a life of discipleship. There is an intimate connection between discipline and discipleship—you can see it in the two words! God saves us by His grace, but once we are saved, He wants us to cultivate our relationship with Him by taking intentional and disciplined actions.

The following are some personal actions we can discipline ourselves to take intentionally:

  • I will develop my spiritual life daily.
  • I will release my life to God daily.
  • I will read the Bible daily.
  • I will talk to God daily

These intentional and necessary actions are key to spiritual fitness. This is what it means to live intentionally. In God’s strength you can do this. So begin taking these actions today to enjoy a successful, godly life.

God Is Waiting for Us

God is waiting to walk with us and talk with us through His Word daily. He is waiting for us to take responsibility for our own spiritual growth. God can do anything, anywhere, at any time, with anyone.

In every way and through every phase of life, He can bring our lives into order.

Prayer Always Precedes Great Things

I believe one of the most encouraging Biblical principles we discover through reading the Scripture is that prayer always precedes great things.

Do you believe this? Do you pray like you believe this?

Prayer Always Precedes

Consider this brief list of moments when this Biblical principle is illustrated throughout the Scriptures:

  • Prayer preceded Abraham being called to a land where he did not know where he was going.
  • Prayer preceded Moses experiencing the glory of God in his life.
  • Prayer preceded Joshua seeing the sun stand still and the moon stop.
  • Prayer preceded David defeating his enemies.
  • Prayer preceded Jabez having his requests answered by the Lord.
  • Prayer preceded Daniel receiving the power and insight to interpret dreams.
  • Prayer preceded Elizabeth having her baby boy, John.
  • Prayer preceded Zechariah prophetically declaring that his and Elizabeth’s boy, who we know as John the Baptist, would one day prepare the way of the Lord.
  • Prayer preceded Mary understanding that God had miraculously placed His Son in her womb.
  • Prayer preceded Jesus seeing the heavens open up, the Holy Spirit descend upon Him, and God declaring aloud that Jesus was His Son and He was pleased with Him.
  • Prayer preceded Jesus being arrested, beaten, flogged, and crucified, dying in our place.
  • Prayer preceded the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church on the day of Pentecost.
  • Prayer preceded the explosion of the gospel on the day of Pentecost and the Gospel advance that would follow.
  • Prayer preceded evangelism and the Lord adding to the Church daily.
  • Prayer preceded the preaching and teaching of God’s Word and fellowship of God’s people.
  • Prayer preceded the demonstrative works of God that occurred through the early Church.
  • Prayer preceded the appointment and sending of leaders, and the planting of gospel churches.
  • Prayer preceded the words Paul wrote to the churches he poured his life into as a missionary and preacher of the Gospel.
  • Prayer preceded John in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day on the island of Patmos and receiving the messages of God to the seven churches of the Revelation.

These are just a few instances of how prayer preceded so many great things that occurred in the Scriptures.

Great Things

Do you want to see God do great things in and through your life?

Do you want to see God do great things in your marriage and through your children?

Do you want to see God do great things in your church?

Do you want to see God do great things through your career?

Do you want to see God do great things through your finances?

Do you want to see God do great things in times of need in your life?

Do you want to see God do great things in our nation and around the world?

Do you want to see God revive His church and awaken America?

Do you want to see God use you to advance His gospel and His causes?

Then Pray

When you prioritize the importance of prayer in your life, you will begin to see God do great things in and through your life. It is not about your age or stage in life; nor is it about your location or vocation. It is about your commitment to prayer in your life.

Do you know why?

It is a Biblical principle that has been verified not only in the Bible, but throughout history.

Prayer always precedes great things.

Loving People Through Prayer

Love is frequently the topic of conversation during February due to Valentine’s Day being the main event. From jewelry commercials to candy in heart-shaped boxes, the thought and idea of love permeates our culture during that first half of February.

Love All Year Long

But what if we focused on love all year long? What if we took the principles of love and put them into practice during the month of June? Or September? Every day of the year? I don’t mean romantic love. I mean the kind of love that causes us to truly appreciate someone else. To be kind, to sacrifice self, give to others, and desire good things for someone else. Not just in our families, but in our workplaces, schools, churches, and communities.

That is exactly what this year’s theme of the National Day of Prayer (which took place yesterday) was calling us to do. LOVE ONE ANOTHER is not just a theme for a day of prayer. It is a calling to each of us to put into practice principles of love every day. Our families need us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Our workplaces need us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. America needs us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. The world needs us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. It is a high calling, and one that has the potential to change not only our own personal circles, but America and the world.

The National Day of Prayer has passed, but that does not mean the theme needs to pass us by as well. Join with others to pray for America and ask God for a LOVE ONE ANOTHER movement in our families, workplaces, cities, towns, states, and nation. Cry out to God with us all year long!

7 Ways You Can Be Involved Now And On The National Day Of Prayer On Thursday May 2, 2019

We are only three days away from the National Day of Prayer. I want to appeal to each of you to be involved in and on the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

1. Mark the date on your calendar: Thursday, May 2.

2. Plan to be part of a prayer observance in your town, city, or county.

  • Discover where an observance is already planned and join in.
  • Create another gathering in your region, as there is always room for more.
  • Begin to have an observance for your church and involve other churches.
  • Have an observance in your workplace during lunch or when the management at your job would be willing to let you meet.
  • Begin an observance in your elementary, middle or high school, college or university. Schools will usually work with you if you follow the correct protocol for permission and acceptance.
  • Start an observance in your neighborhood.

3. Survey our website, nationaldayofprayer.org, and discover many training materials offered online as well as written procedures that will help you.

4. POST SOMETHING NOW about the National Day of Prayer on your social media, pointing people to the day. Help us get the word out about it. Here is the theme infographic you can post on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Do NOT assume other people know. Advance it with us now. By the way, you can even put a link to this article about how people can be involved.

5. Our National Day of Prayer Task Force, based in Colorado Springs, is in major financial need. Yes, it does cost money to do what is prepared, advanced, promoted across America.

Whether your gift is $10 or $1000 or more, it is important. The need is great. Let’s all do something now and along the way.

6. Pray daily for the 2019 National Day of Prayer on May 2. Last year, millions were involved and reached on the National Day of Prayer through thousands of gatherings across this nation. This is a great moment to touch America and advance the hope Jesus Christ offers each person across the world. Therefore, we need to pray for this day: For more observances, for more people, for greater resources, and most of all, for the power of God to fall upon our nation on Thursday, May 2.

7. Participate in the national observance event LIVE on GOD TV. GOD TV will once again broadcast the national observance of the US National Day of Prayer (NDP) LIVE from Washington, DC on Thursday May 2, 2019 at 8.30 pm (EST).  This special broadcast will be replayed in the USA and worldwide on Saturday May 4th at 10 am; USA (EST); UK, (BST); Asia (IT); Africa (SAT); and Australasia (ST).

Pray For America – Be A Part Of The National Day Of Prayer On Thursday, May 2

GOD TV will once again broadcast the national observance of the US National Day of Prayer (NDP) LIVE from Washington, DC on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 8.30 pm (EST).  This special broadcast will be replayed worldwide on Saturday, May 4th at 10 am; USA (EST); UK, (BST); Asia (IT); Africa (SAT); and Australasia (ST).

The National Day of Prayer mobilizes unified public prayer for America. Let’s keep our eyes on this missional vision and find ways to create venues, gatherings, and observances involving as many people as possible praying on Thursday, May 2. Thousands upon thousands of gatherings, in all kinds of settings mobilizing millions. For more explanation about our NDP missional vision, click here.

NDP Observances Can Happen Anywhere

These observances, if approved by the authorities over these areas, can occur anywhere at any time on the National Day of Prayer. Places like:

  • The steps of governmental buildings at city halls, court houses, state capitals and others
  • Hotels and other public businesses
  • Churches
  • Workplaces of all kinds
  • Schools and universities
  • Parks
  • Arenas and convention centers
  • Other kinds of places

Just be sure you work with those who are the authorities over these places. Most are very open to working with NDP volunteers with the understanding the National Day of Prayer is a real law, an annual observance designated by the United States Congress, and encouraged to take place everywhere on this first Thursday of May annually.

Multi-Vision Movement of the National Day of Prayer

In addition, let’s remember the National Day of Prayer is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic, multi-church, multi-denomination and multi-lingual movement of prayer. Those of you who lead an observance, let’s work to find ways to involve generations, ethnicities, and churches. Each gathering will be different, but each gathering can involve people from all generations and ethnicities. If you want to learn more about this multi-vision, you can view this short video here.

Every Town, Every City, & Every County Across America

This is a tangible and real goal. It can be done and should be done. While many observances will occur across some towns and most cities, we must be sure we cover the regions of the country that may not be as dominate with a larger population. The people in these areas will become highly receptive to this gathering and in reality, can have the greatest influence due to their location.

In cities, create multiple observances. How can you have too many observances in major cities across the United States? Too many is not even possible! Watch this short video to see how you can help us reach every town, city and county across America.

Pastor and Churches Lead the Way on May 2

Pastors and churches, lead the way on the National Day of Prayer in your towns, cities, and counties! This is a fantastic way to give a positive witness about the gospel as well as recognize the Kingdom of God is much greater than your own church or denomination. We need pastors and churches leading the way. The churches are the footprint of God all across this nation, plus what God has created, He wants to use for His glory. Therefore, pastors and churches, lead the way.

An observance on the National Day of Prayer is not a political gathering nor does it have any political goals. It is also not about a party or platform, but its sole intention is not just calling our nation to prayer, but actually praying in the observance we create or attend.

Denominations, Conventions, and Networks Encourage the Churches

Denominations, conventions, and networks can encourage the churches and even help equip the churches to participate and even lead on May 2 in their communities. Surely, this is a day, that each of us can get beyond ourselves. We can find a way to work together with others who believe the Bible and also believe that Christ is the ultimate answer for our nation today. Through prayer, churches can come together to pray for our nation.

Also, use your influence through periodicals, articles, news briefs, and through your own venues to help get the word out about the National Day of Prayer.

Use Social Media Platforms

Use your social media platforms not only on the actual day of the National Day of Prayer, but also in days leading up to the National Day of Prayer. These platforms can be powerful and influential ways to speak to all kinds of people and share the power of our theme for 2019: Love One Another. Also, remember to add the hashtag on each post, tweet, or picture: #Love1Another You can also post a link, article, picture, or the actual NDP graphic for this year with our theme Love One Another.

Now is the time to lead!

Advancing A Strategy Of Prayer For America

On the final morning of a conference on October 30 at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas, I revealed the theme for the 2019 National Day of Prayer, “Advancing A Strategy Of Prayer For America”.  This theme will be forwarded from October 30 all the way through and beyond our 2019 National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

Through sharing with others, praying together, and a special 21-day personal time of fasting and prayer, God has confirmed this Biblical and relevant theme for America.

This powerful and compelling theme could be embraced and forwarded through an estimated 200 denominations and just under 400,000 churches in America, the leaders in each of our 19,510 incorporated places in the United States including cities, towns, and villages, as well as through each of the 3,142 counties across America. When you hear and see it, I think you will agree. I believe it is a theme that any person from any walk of life will be able to embrace.

Advancing Prayer Through Every Town, Every City, and Every County in America

Every town, city, and county in America needs to have a prayer observance for our nation on the upcoming National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2019. This is a compelling vision to imagine! While thousands upon thousands of prayer observances happen each year on the National Day of Prayer, they are not happening in every town, every city, and every county in America.

This is what we must ensure. This is what we must advance. This is what we must strategize toward. This is much bigger than any of us, including our present task force. 

This is why we need you!

That is right! You can help. You can lead. You can attend. Get your calendar out and mark the day now: Thursday, May 2, 2019.

I believe there is a way that every school, university, business, church, ministry, denomination, and anything existent in America that involves people can have a prayer observance for America on the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

Our country needs prayer. Our country needs you. Plan now to make this happen wherever you live and wherever you are on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

Loving People Through Prayer

Love is frequently the topic of conversation during the beginning of February…we just experienced it first hand, several weeks ago. Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not, there is no mistaking that a specific day focused on love is coming. From jewelry commercials to candy in heart-shaped boxes, the thought and idea of love permeates our culture during the first part of February.

But what if we focused on love all year long?

What if we took the principles of love and put them into practice during the month of June? Or September? Every day of the year? I don’t mean romantic love. I mean the kind of love that causes us to truly appreciate someone else. To be kind, to sacrifice self, give to others, and desire good things for someone else. Not just in our families, but in our workplaces, schools, churches, and communities.

National Day of Prayer 2019 theme

That is exactly what this year’s theme of the National Day of Prayer is calling us to do. LOVE ONE ANOTHER is not just a theme for a day of prayer. It is a calling to each of us to put into practice principles of love every day. Our families need us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Our workplaces need us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. America needs us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. The world needs us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. It is a high calling, and one that has the potential to change not only our own personal circles, but America and the world.

Join with others to pray for America and ask God for a LOVE ONE ANOTHER movement in our families, workplaces, cities, towns, states, and nation. Cry out to God with us on this day.
