Samford University is on its fourth day of worship and prayer. This is how revivals at different universities is spreading like fire.
Samford University
The recent and continuous happenings on different campuses just prove one thing – this generation is hungry for more of God’s presence, and revival is the result.
In a recent video, Samford University students are seen gathered to worship and praise one ture living God, Jesus.
The Alabama Baptist publication reported that the spontaneous worship started on Wednesday when a student “walked into Reid Chapel and began softly playing worship songs on the piano.” The publication was informed by a university spokesperson. Not long after, a “few students heard the music, walked into the chapel and began to worship along with the student,” the newspaper added. Furthermore, by 2 a.m., there were 150-200 people in the chapel.
University President
In a Facebook post, Kevin Blackwell shared the email sent by Samford University’s president.
He wrote:
“Dear Samford students,
For about the last 48 hours, students and employees have been gathering in Reid Chapel for continuous worship and prayer. This is spontaneous, organic, student-led worship. Having spent some time yesterday with those worshipping in Reid Chapel, I can testify that the Holy Spirit is at work in and among our student body. What’s happening isn’t contrived, programmed, or scripted. Nor is it performative or disingenuous. Students and others see it as an opportunity for the Samford campus to find unity in Christ, to encourage one another to faithfulness, and to extend the love and grace of Jesus to everyone.
Similar movements are occurring at other college campuses. Although what’s happening now at Samford is unique, I also have no doubt that God is working in similar ways at places like Asbury and Lee Universities, among others. I’ve also read about similar activities at some high schools.
As we allow the Spirit to move among us, let’s resist the temptation to label what’s happening, or to put it into some kind of a neat box. I’m convinced that God is doing a new thing here, and all we’re asked to do is to remain faithful to God’s calling.
Our theme this year is HOPE. Our hope can be found in the person and work of Jesus Christ. As we worship Jesus today, let’s allow hope to abound in us so that we can spread God’s hope throughout this campus and the world.
Grace and peace,
Beck A. Taylor, Ph.D.

Added to what he said, the president then tweeted how the students responded to this mighty move of God. Not only does he think that this is the move of God, but also the students attested based on what they experienced.
I just spent 90 minutes w/ students in Reid Chapel. Hundreds lined the pews & aisles singing, praying, giving witness to the Lord. It’s real, genuine, vulnerable, passionate, biblical, and all about Jesus. I asked some students what they found encouraging. Here’s their responses:

“It’s the most unified I’ve seen our student body.” “It’s unscripted and not programmed. The Spirit is leading.” “Students are sharing from their hearts.” “The Gospel is being proclaimed.” “Our campus will never be the same.” Pray for Samford’s campus! Praise God!
