Award-winning new Christian artist Anne Wilson reveals that she felt called to take her music “outside of the Christian market.”

And Christian artists know this very well, including the new Christian artist Anne Wilson. That’s why she desires to take her music other than the Christian market.

The 20-year-old rose to fame after releasing her debut album “My Jesus.” Her song became a hit and ranked first on the National Christian Airplay chart.
Outside Christian Market
In an interview with Christian Headlines, the Christian-country singer shared her love for Christian music. Most significantly, how she could share Jesus with others through her music. That’s why, this time, she felt a nudging in her heart to take her songs “outside of the Christian market.”
“So one of the ways that I feel very called is just by my songs being about the Lord,” she explained. “And about His goodness and talking about Him – but the music sounding very country.”
Also, just this year, Anne won the title Female Artist of the Year and Breakout Single during the K-LOVE Fan Awards. She is nominated for Dove Awards this year as well.
“[It] has been really fun to see how people in other genres that don’t listen to Christian music are listening to my music,” Anne said. “Because they feel kind of this pull towards it, because of the sound of it. So I would say [my music is] like Christian-country, a little bit of Western – all that vibe.”
Story Behind My Jesus
Anne’s “My Jesus” was birthed from a painful season of her life when her brother died. She was 15 years old then. But God didn’t waste that painful experience as the tragedy led her closer to Jesus. And that’s the story the 20-year-old is sharing with others today.
“It was really hard losing Jacob,” she told Christian Headlines. “It was a hard season of heartbreak and just didn’t feel like I could really even make it through… just so sad. But I remember in those moments of deep pain and suffering that I felt God in a closer way than I’ve ever felt before. He was very close, He was near. He was there for me – His presence, I could feel all the time.”
