A woman tried to take her own life, but God saved her multiple times. This is a testimony of God’s unrelenting love.
A Woman tried to Take Her Own Life
Chella was lost in the world after a traumatic childhood. She didn’t grow up in a Christian household, and all the things she knew about God came from the opinions of others.
When she was four, her parents separated.
“My family split up when I was four years old, I think it was when I was in primary school. And my mom was really mentally unstable, and she couldn’t look after me. Actually, I ended up having or staying at my mom’s on the weekends. And then with my dad during the week. I was sort of passed around between my grandparents,” she said.
But something horrible happened. Chella was sexually abused by her grandfather. And what’s even worse is that her parents and grandparents denied what happened.
“I really feel like that moment just changed my life, like forever,” she said.
Hungry for Love
It influenced the choices she made. Her dad was absent during her childhood years because he was always working. So, when she was a teenager, she started looking for love from men.
“I was just so hungry, and I felt like I had a void in my soul that I just wanted to fill it with anything,” Chella said.
She got into toxic relationship after a toxic relationship. The many breakups eventually led her to become suicidal.
“I just never felt good enough or like I was lovable, or worthy,” Chella admitted.
And because of everything that happened, Chella decided to take her own life.

“I took all the medication that I had, I was on psychiatric medication at that time. … I tried to hang myself from the shower rail. … After taking my medications, I drank a whole bottle of vodka. I blacked out with my head on the noose,” she said.

Chella ended up in the ICU for three days straight. But what shocked her was that it was her father who found her in the bathroom. He wasn’t supposed to come home early, but on that day, he came home and ended up saving his daughter. God used him, and it’s a miracle Chella was alive.
But that wasn’t the only time God saved Chella.
When a friend of hers asked her to come with him to church, she agreed. What she saw was very far from the traditional church she heard about and imagined.
When an African preacher asked if anyone wanted to give their life to Jesus, Chella came forward, thinking that she had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Finding Jesus
The pastor prayed for her, and she said, “I can’t really explain what happened because there are no words that can really do it justice. But I just felt like all the love that I had missed, that I was just reaching out for and crying out for in my whole life, just washed over me like a waterfall. That was probably my most incredible experience with the Lord.”
She can hear Him saying He was there for her through everything she went through, every single moment.
“He was there, He was listening to me throughout the whole thing.
“This is what it’s like. Knowing God, being saved, and actually coming to know God as Someone who just loves your soul so much. Like, I was literally transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light,” she concluded.
