There is a call of prayer for a 70-year-old Christian man persecuted by an angry mob in Pakistan. The people attacked him and burned down his house.
70-Year-Old Christian Man
In a country like Pakistan, having a Christian faith poses a threat. The country’s blasphemy law is forcefully enforced on minority groups, especially Christians. The same is true for the 70-year-old Christian man who was accused of desecrating the Quran.
The Firstpost news media reported, “The mob, which included children as well, torched the 70-year-old victim’s house and shoe factory. Viral videos on social media show attackers stealing victim’s belongings. The reports suggest five other Christians were also injured in the attack.”

The man was beaten, robbed of his possessions, and had his house burned down. Police at the scene had restricted the area and evacuated the Christian residents safely. But this case is quite common in Pakistan. The violence because of the alleged blasphemy law is what was expected.
Pakistani Christians
Open Doors, an organization for the persecuted ones, reported that only 1.8% of the country’s population are Christians. Being the minority, they are being targeted and attacked. Authorities even reserved degrading and filthy jobs for Christians. They appoint them as sewer cleaners or in the brick kiln. Nevertheless, Pakistani Christians remain strong in their faith and love for Jesus.
Just like Rehena, a Christian Pakistani woman who said in an interview that Christian women are being discriminated against in their work. She said, “We have no right to any privileges and have no right to dignity. It is an insult to Muslims to eat with us off the same plate. If we touch their plate, it becomes defiled.”
Mentioning and even whispering the name of Jesus is considered taboo in the county. But for Rehena, Jesus remains her only hope. She said, “If I must choose between Jesus and a better life, the choice is not difficult. Jesus is the only way. I have chosen already: Jesus, my Jesus. This is what I cling to.”
Let us pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in Pakistan who face danger every day because of their faith.
