Social media influencer Cassie Blanko shared five worldly things Christians should not partake in society today. They are helpful tips to strengthen more one’s faith in God.

Here are the five things Christians should avoid in the world today:
1. Zodiac Signs or Astrology
Cassie remarked to be careful about believing “zodiac signs or astrology.” As she stressed, “Our identity is in God alone.” And when a person puts his faith in something other than God, it is deemed “idolatry.” So, a Christian shouldn’t partake in anything like it.
2. Cursing
Cassie shared Ephesians 4:29, which says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
The influencer warned about watching our words that might copy worldly expressions. She explained, “Because the same mouth that we praise people with cannot be the same mouth that we curse people with.” Further, the Bible often speaks about using one’s words to build up and not to tear down.
3. Sex Before Marriage
This is “a big one” that the society has normalized nowadays. And Cassie remarked that as followers of Christ, Christians are stewards of the temple of the Holy Spirit. It says in 1 Corinthians 6:18, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.”
4. Getting Drunk
Christians should know that getting drunk is a sin. Cassie shared how drunkenness leads to “loss of self-control.” That’s why the Bible advises to “stay sober.”
In Ephesians 5:18, it says, “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”
Further, Cassie remarked, “When you choose to do mind-altering things like getting high or getting drunk, you’re essentially giving control of your Spirit over to the control of something other than the Holy Spirit.”
5. Secular Music
Cassie warned against listening to secular music that “promotes immorality and violence” because it “belittles our purity.”
“If a song glorifies what opposes God or what is contrary to the Word of God, we should not be setting our minds on it,” she remarked.
In Philippians 4:8, Paul the Apostle wrote, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Cassie urged believers to discern and choose the songs they listen to carefully.
“Make sure that your music that you’re choosing to listen to is something that’s going to fill you with the fruits of the Spirit or is not going to make you stumble, or tempt you, or entice you into lusting over something or someone,” she said.
