1. Through Prayer
The devil trembles when you pray. He trembles because the moment you pray earnestly, God’s presence invades earth. You enter into a conversation with the God of the universe and we know that He is always near to those who call upon Him “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on Him in truth” (Psalm 145:18).
As Heaven invades earth when you pray, God’s manifest presence will automatically send away every manifestation of the enemy in that place. Just like what happened when the demons met Jesus they trembled before Him saying, “Send us into those pigs,” the spirits begged. “Let us enter them” (Mark 5:12).
2. By the Sword of the Spirit
The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” (Hebrews 4:12).
The devil trembles every time we display the things we have buried deep in our hearts, that we’ve learnt through God’s Word. The enemy trembles because he knows whatever lies he throws at us, we cannot be moved. Because children of God never listen to lies but always listen to the truth.
3. Through the Power of Love
“Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13). Love has always been the greatest according to the Word. Why do you think love is the greatest? What made God send His Son to the world? What made David the man after God’s own heart? What urged Jesus to feed the 5,000 and heal the sick?
It was because of love. Jesus’ compassion for the people made Him powerful. He wasn’t feeding and healing them because He could but because He loved them. Jesus was moved by love. All forces of darkness naturally disappear because love conquers all. And always remember that we love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19).
Conclusion
When the devil sees a man or woman who really believes in prayer, he trembles. Praying, living out God’s Word and moving in love will not just make the devil tremble, these three things cause him to vanish.
“And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the Day of Judgment, but we can face Him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world” (1 John 4:17).
